i just recently picked up a capacitor from some guy on craigslist, ive never used one, does anyone know how to properly charge one with out a voltmeter? should i just hook attempt to charge it and then hook it up? any help would be greatly appreciated....

Usually you just put a resistor inline for a few seconds and then connect directly. Don't remember a value off the top of my head but anything between 600 ohm and 1 kohm should work I would think.

You can just connect it and not worry about it. It's not recommended, and you'll see a nice spark, but there shouldn't be any issues.

well that's some dedication..........

Sell it. Caps shouldn't ever be needed. Usually a higher output alternator is what's needed.
