It's only held on by a sprig clip, and is pretty rought to put on. What I had to do was pull the boot that the fork goes thru, then push the pin on, then install the boot again. It just sits on a ball pivot, then the spring sits in the channels of the pivot, then clips into the sides of the fork. Good luck man, it's a s***ty job.kainvamp wrote:s***, think im gonna need any new parts i need to order or should i be able to get it back in once its off? i dont know why it would pop out lol
About 6 inches, your best bet is to put a block on your oit pan and jack up the front of the motor. You can also spin the trans, so the starter bump is facing down. The tunnel is kinda tight on the s13's.kainvamp wrote:ok i kinda ran out of light tonight, but i got up to where everything is unbolted and everything unplugged. I'm trying to pull the transmission back but the housing is hitting the firewall, how far back does it need to go before it will drop down?
Out and in, in 3 hours. on our backs.clutch swap included.ha. we've had practice.. but it sucks a** everytime.just remember what bolts go where. it suck having to figure it out after.driftneil wrote:It's only a days worth of work, you should be good. The hardest part is putting it on.
s*** I'm horrible for remembering. I put all the trans bolts in the order they come out, in a piece of cardboard. Then you can't forget!E7-S14 wrote:

Ditto on both, don't smash your tunnel.....No need. Loosen your motor mounts as much as possible without taking the nuts off, and jack the front of the motor up. You can also have someone put a 27mm socket on the crank nut. While you push the trans in, have them turn the crank. It helps to line the splines up.E7-S14 wrote:i lay on my back and man handle the transmission in.this way you can spin it side to side to get it in.
also have the motor jacked up a bit using a block/ or piece of 2x4 on the oilpan to free up some space between the top of the trans and the transmission tunnel
