you guys are [email protected] post stupid remarks..I really need assistance. I tried using the pilot bushing removal tool w/slide hammer..didnt budge. Do I even need to take the adapter bushing out? The pilot bushing for manual is smaller than the adapter bushing so the transmission will slide right in. What exactly does the pilot bushing do?? Thanks.

keeps the input shaft from becoming a rotational shatter of death to the transmission... (keeps it straight)

i really didnt understand what you were trying to say. the function of it is to support the input shaft. it needs to come out if you're converting. use the slide hammer harder

I believe you IMed me. He is trying to take out the torque converter bushing. The easiest way is using an air chisle, takes about 30 seconds with the right tool.

you can use a air hammer/chisel, but you must be careful not to gouge the inside where the new pilot bushing must go
