I've got a buddy with an 09 Nismo 370Z. We install an injen CAI 1-2 years ago on it. Everything runs/drives perfect. Some kid gets in his car recently and tries to drive off but winds up driving off a parking deck and the car teeter/totters over the ledge basically. (its about a 2-3' drop). After the wreckers damaged all sorts of stuff up front, while getting it out , it gets taken to the dealership where insurance does about $8k of work. They replace the cross member, front fascia, some exhaust parts, etc. Basically all the underside components that were damaged.
Well now weeks later we're having an interesting issue. Only in the rain does the car now (never happened before, rain/sun/snow/etc) seem to buck/hesitate. This last weekend there was god awful rain/cold conditions and he could hardly get it home (bucking, hitting 2500rpms ish barely, trying to ease home). This is about the 3rd rain event where this has happened. This time it throws a CEL. Takes it to the dealer and its a P0102 MAF LOW CIRCUIT code. His concern is the intake sucking up water, my concern is that its never done it before whether its rained or not. I don't think Nissan touched the intake stuff when they were doing the other work. My questions are this:
1) Does P0102 designate whether its the passenger or driver side MAF so we can at least narrow it down there?
2) Are there any major grounding straps underneath the car that nissan may have forgotten when replcing the cradle/under carriage items? I doubt it as it seems like a rain only issue, but gotta ask.
3) Has anyone had rain issues with these CAIs causing this issue (PLEASE do not start the OMG you're going to hydrolock your motor thread here)?
Thanks guys for your help. Just trying to better understand the newer cars so I can figure out what is going on (its freezing outsside lol, the less time spent wondering and looking the better). These are around $200-300 each, so before we just start replacing stuff I am trying to see what we need to do.
