NEED HELP !!!

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Hi all !

I have 2008 EX35 Journey AWD with a few weeks left on lease to return. With my luck one of the tires got nailed in sidewall , so scraped( as per 6 different tire men ) . I have Michelin Latitude 225 60R17 which are discontinued and nowhere to find used with reasonable tread to replace.
So, please advise me on situation with minimum spending to end lease peacefully.
Thank you.

Would it hurt to ask your dealer what the penalty would be if you turned it in with mismatched tires?

I did find the tire you're looking for on Ebay for $135 (not including shipping from Florida):

--EDIT--
Ebay has alot more than one:
http://motors.shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw ... rksid=m270

What does your lease agreement say? I don't lease, but I thought that typically they only say that the 4 tires must be matching and have reasonable wear/remaining tread. I also think they need to have the same size and speed/load ratings as original.

If for some reason you can't get the tire from Ebay and the cost penalty for mismatched tires is high, I'd probably replace the entire set with something used or cheaper than OEM.

TIRESIn order to ensure peak performance and safety,
it’s important to take good care of your vehicle’s tires. If tires are worn unevenly, are bulging, have sidewall damage or are below a minimum tread depth of 3.2mm
(4/32in), there will be a charge to replace them.If you need to replace any tires, be sure they are
a matching set that matches the type, quality, size,
and rating of the vehicle’s original factory tires.
NORMAL
• Tires with a 3.2mm (4/32in) tread depth or greater
at the minimum-thickness point
• Winter tires will be accepted on returned vehicles between November 1st and March 31st
EXCESSIVE
• Tires with less than a 3.2mm (4/32in) tread depth
at minimum-thickness point
• Tires with sidewall damage (cut, bulges, cracks, etc.)
• Any tire not part of a matching set per axle
• Studded tires
• Any tire that does not match vehicle’s original
tire type, quality, size and rating is not allowed
• Winter tires will not be accepted on returned
vehicles between April 1st and October 31st

When you say you got a nail in the sidewall do you mean it's near the sidewall? Tire people won't patch a tire with a puncture near the sidewall but there's nothing to keep you from just plugging it yourself. (Only if it's a small hole of course).

I've got a cut about 10 mm in middle of a sidewall . If it would be a hole would be a different story.Anyway, my question still stands : What is comparable tire will be accepted by Infiniti ?

Already called dealership, and get the answer I knew I will get.. "Sure, bring the car , we will replace ALL FOUR NEW tires..No we don't have used tires.." . That's why I'm asking here if anyone have or may suggest where to buy suitable replacement..By the way, decided to look for Pirelli's . they still exist and in some places on sale...

I wouldn't worry too much unless you picked some no-name brand tire or if you have a dealer with a bad rep.

It looks like other than the michelin latitudes, I've seen only four other tire models that meet or exceed the ex35's specified size and speed & load ratings. I saw 2 pirelli models, the yokohama avid envigor, and the nokian WRG2. The pirelli's and yokohama seem to be pretty reputable brands. And while the Nokian aren't as well known in my parts, I would think they're much more common in Canada.

By the way, how much remaining tread depth do you have on your current tires? You didn't say if you only needed one tire, or an entire set. If you're still at or above 4/32", I would just order one used replacement michelin and call it a day.

So far I can't find used Latitudes. May be they are somewhere. From eBay all from States ( shipping cost more than tire)..And I'm trying to find 1 latitude, or I have to replace 2 on same axle as per End off lease terms. Pirelli's look more reasonable price wise so far..

Crap, that stinks!

I'm bummed to hear that Michelin has discontinued the Latitude; I really felt that was a pretty good, sport oriented tire. Wonder what model they replaced it with? Anyone know?

The "tire selector" on the Michelin website does not provide any model that fits the 225/60/17 V specs. I'm guessing that it didn't make sense for them to keep making the latitude in these specs since it looks to be such a low volume product. Who knows if they'll come out with a replacement. :gotme
TireRack doesn't seem to carry it any longer. Discount Tire Direct still shows the tire as available, but as a special order item only.

I like the latitudes as well, except for their price ($$$).

Yeah, I know Michies are expensive, but in my experience they also tend to last a long time, too. So when I'm seeing a couple hundred dollar difference between a set of Michelins and something else, I try to average that cost difference over the duration I think I'm going to own those tires. At the end of the day, for me anyway....it may be 3 or more years of ownership. If you look at it that way, a couple hundred bucks doesn't seem like such a big deal anymore. Just my $.02.

I'm still running the set of Nokian WR-G2 SUV's which I put on last fall. Didn't get much of a winter workout last season obviously (other than our 1 storm in Oct), but I do like them as a year-round tire. Not quite as well controlled and precise as the stock Latitudes were, but I'm willing to make that compromise because of the awesome winter grip they offer.
