I have been in auto sales for 35 years and i have 2004 q45. The car is a performance model with all the toys. The car has 3 lights on the check eng light and vdc light and the slip light. The car is sound and drives perfect. I have had this vehicle at two shops that i trust and i have used them for years. I also paid to get a view from just answer mechanics web site with no luck. The car has a new crank sensor and battery, the code that is on 325. I can shut these lights off with a code machine, but a short time after i clear them, they pop back on.The two shops that looked at the car had this vehicle for 5 weeks. I am lost at sea i have never seen a ghost like this in 35 years.Any help would be great

Did you take it to an Infiniti dealer for diagnosis? I bet they could figure it out easily and very quickly.

I agree with qship96 - this sounds like a problem for a dealership tech. that has extensive newer Q45 experience. Where are you located? I don't see a code 325 (DTC P0325) anywhere in the service manual - so that makes me a bit suspicious of the diagnostics you have gotten so far. Here's a link to the factory service manual if you'd like to do some reading or pass it along to your technician. http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/Q45/2004_Q45/2004_Q45/

There is no such thing as " nissan infinity dealership" there are INFINITI, however.

The mechanic [the word you used} is obviously not a CERTIFIED TECHNICAN with high educational credentials.

I do not understand your comment on someone being a certified tech. What i am looking for is someone who may have had this problem and can help me. 35 years in the car business have used both franchise and independent shops and had good results with both. Your help is great but it does not solve my problem.

Raven,

Your Infiniti is an electronic animal. It has almost as many computers as the space shuttle. As such, Infiniti designed it to be troubleshot using an elctronic interface and designed it factory service manual around having the necessary equipment - called a Consult II AND using the FSM step by step.

The fact that your Nissan service guy could not find the problem indicates he didn't have one or both. "Certified" means he received factory training and demonstrated his competence on the equipment needed to service these machines.

Unfortunately, the electronics oriented troubleshooting differs from classical auto troubleshooting about as much as variable valve timing on our Q's compared to a small block Chevy. Not all mechanics makes the transition.

I was an airborne electronics technician in the Air Force during the transition to built in test equipment. I can tell you from experience, you can do a lot of troubleshooting relying on practical experience. But for the really tricky stuff, you pulled out the book and plodded through it step by step. Same here.
