So i was going on the highway at 45mph in 3rd or 4th over 2.5k rpms and all of the sudden the engine starts cutting out and losing power, all of it. It does it randomly but has done it more so at those speeds. I was driving in a residential neighborhood and had a stop sign, stopped and so did the engine, another time at 35mph it starts doing it so i pulled into a parking lot and while pulling in it died on me. Those are the only times it has died below 40mph, also when i start it i have to give it gas or it will die right after it has just started. I have a Hitachi carb rebuild kit on the way set to arrive within the next 2 days but need some advice from any of you who have seen similar situations. Didn't want to start a new thread for this but i need help and yes i looked in the stickies and there's nothing in depth about my situation. PLEASE HELP

i had similar problems before... and it was the fuel pump

that does not mean however that your problem is not just the typical vac lines... spark plugs.... blah blah blah the list goes on...

so yeah... it could be your pump... or filter....... or anything lol

what maintenance have you done to your truck so far???

Any chance you picked up a tank of bad gas?

Here is a list of parts that should be here tomorrow- Hitachi carb rebuild kit - New oem headlight- Fuel filter- Upper radiator hose (one on now is completely wrong and kinked)- Haynes repair manual for the DatsunSo i will have a crack at it and if the problem is still there i will try and do my best at diagnosing it. Have to be sure it has fuel spark and compression (which is fine). So i will start with fuel, fix the carb (friend thinks it's the float) and that may fix the high idle on startup, then if the problem is still there i may try looking into the fuel pump. I'm sure the carb could use a rebuild anyways so it will get one and we will see if it does the trick. Thanks for the advice guys
