My 97 Q45 service engine soon light is on I took it to autozone and ran a scan on the car it came back with a code P0400, EGR flow error while looking under the hood I notice the Valve hose in the picture in red was rubber and split in two. so I ask the autozone tech do they have a replacement he said no I have to goto the dealer for that piece. So I want to the dealer they said that piece is not rubber its metal and it will cost 78.00 dollars for just that piece Im like damm. So I ask the dealer since thepart was replace with a rubber hose can I replace it again with that, he said yes but make sure its the correct fit. My ? is should I replace this with the dealer part that cost 78.00 for a hose or should I find a parts store to cut me a rubber hose. Its funny advance & autozone don't sell this piece. so Im looking for a place in the DC,MD,VA area, here is the pic of the hose I need.

I can't see your pic but metal will last much longer than rubber/silicone. Depends on what your plans for the car are. If you want to keep it and drive it for many years or for the forseeable future buy the steel factory replacement. If you don't care then just cut one out of rubber.

For Infiniti OEM parts, in Joe we trust:

Perhaps you should study the FSM so you can identify what else on the car is jerry rigged. Presume all fluids and filters have been replaced? Order some filters from Joe too. I personally prefer the M1 oil filter at Joe's smoking price over the OEM one. Air and cabin filters are reasonable and should be replaced annually.

I'm dying to see this cracked hose but the link doesn't work unless you're a member. Now that it's hosted someone will transfer it to here and we can help you with your issue.

When you say "dealer", do you mean your local Infiniti dealer, or do you mean Joe at http://www.everythinginfiniti.com (since the info for him had been posted by maxnix).

If you meant the "local" dealer, then instead click on this link above and buy the part from Joe..

However, if you meant Joe, then that is the best price you are going to be able to find for the OEM part. Go for it and get your car back on the road.

Don't bother with the dealer man. Just call Joe. He's the man with the plan.

You could go to a junkyard, but by the time you fininshed cleaning it, you may wished you had purchased it from the dealer.

Probably a big mistake. There are two kinds of members here. Those that maintain their cars with OEM parts (98%) and the few aftermarket parts that are known as good and better(2%). There are a couple hundred ex-members who used substandard 3rd party parts who were "successful" in keeping their cars running until they suddenly threw up their hands and dumped them because of all the constant problems from thier inadequate maintenance and repairs.

Call Joe, get the correct part at a steep discount, or go down that slippery slope to the used Civic.
