I recently purchased a 2005 6 spd G35 coupe... I love it and at first decided I'd just rather leave it all stock.....Well needless to say eventually I broke down and decided to do a little aftermarket work to it. I already ordered the Nismo CAI basically because it specifically made for Nissan. I've been looking at exhaust and have no clue what to look at...My cousin favors the Greddy Evo2. I know nothing about these cars really because I went from driving a lifted Jeep to a G35. I know that I want to keep the deep tone and I want it to sound good. I've also looked at the Stillen high flow cats and purchasing a plenum spacer...does anyone have any advice????

Nismo CAI is all I have purchased so far...I'm looking for advice on a good plenum spacer and a good exhaust and high flow cats that will allow me to keep the deep tone...Oh and anything else I should Look at?....I heard that headers only add weight and do no add any significant hp??? Is this true?

Once again I am completely new to this type of vehicle. I have modded bikes and Jeeps but I am really just looking for advice on parts for the G35.

Welcome to NICO and congrats on your new ride!! You got a hot car!!

You will find EVERYTHING you need to know here

g35-forum-and-g37-forum.html

Read through and educate yourself. I can guarantee you that everything you need to know is there and VERY easy to find. If something is unclear then ask away my friend.

As for exhausts, I went with Stillen and have had no regrets. IMHO it is the best exhaust out there for the Coupe.

If you are getting a spacer go for the motordyne 5/16th AND MREV2 they can be found at http://www.everythingg35.com ask for Joe, he is great and very knowledgable!

Oh and post some pics of your ride up in the Members Rides area. Also stop into our G35 General Chat area and introduce yourself to the boys!

I appreciate the quick response...yea I've been browsing around the forums all day and looking at the MREV2 and the spacers all day....I will surely post a few pictures of the infiniti as soon as I take a few...its all stock and as far as exterior and Interior I intend to keep it that way mainly because I love the look of it....

If your going to get exhaust, get fast intentions exhaust, thats the best sounding exhaust and best looking exhaust IMO. It will keep that deep tone and it will sound like a G, not a rice rocket.

Nismo CAI...nice. Have a friend with that on his 350Z. Loves it.He's running the Nismo exhaust too. Nice tone.

Agree on 5/16th spacer and mrerv2. Best bang for your buck with the rev-up VQ's.

Consider a Z-tube with your Nismo intake. (stock intake tube, MAF to Throttle Body tube from a 350Z) Gives a little more sound under hood which is nice.

Exhausts....Nismo; Fast Intentions; HKS; Stillen....so many more.I'm running with Injen's true dual 'track edition' but it will be too loud for what you want.

If ever considering an ECU re-flash, I suggest the 'uprev'.

Think about coil-overs and sways too. I'm running Cusco's set-up and love it, but there's many other high quality manufactures out there too.

Be prepared for Modtitius with these G's lol. The mod bug bit me and have moths in my wallet to prove it

Ok, so I checked the carfax and it says 5AT with performance system, etc., etc.. I'm guessing I have the rev-up. SOOOOO.......... I'm ordering the MREV2 from Motordyne and am going to mill down my 5/8 spacer unless someone with a 5/16 spacer wants to trade. Only have about a week. This time I will take start to finish "work in progress" photos.

Dont guess. Just look at the tachometer and see where it redlines. Normal is 6600 RPMS, REV-UP is 7000, and the newer HR redlines at 7500.

What happens if I put it on a non rev-up motor? Yep, mines at 6600. Bummer. I guess I should just leave it. So its not the best for "all 05+ G's" its the best for 05+ with the rev-up motor.

The MREV2 is a ported/polished version of the lower plenum that you have in the non revup engine. Hence, it will make some difference, but it has been said its not worth the extra cost associated with it normally.

+1 The MREV2 is designed for the REVUP VQ engine...not the older design (03-04). On REVUP engines it will make a large, very noticeable, difference in the mid power band. It is one of the best mods you can do for the 05-07 coupe and 05-06 sedan.

I want it!!! lol. Can't afford it, otherwise I'd take it off your hands.

You could always install the MREV2 and then sell your lower plenum to some Cheapazz who wants to port and polish his own imitation MREV2 hehehe

I'll just go to the back yard and pick some more off the tree right? I think I'll try it with and without the spacer. ANYONE WANT TO TRADE A 5/16 SPACER FOR A 5/8 SPACER??

Why are you trying to trade spacers?

Has anybody figured out how to change the red line point in an engine. I.e 6600 to say 7500 with cams, crank etc?"!? Without buying another motor or car? I'm sure ECU Flashing helps some, however, there must be a way. I had a friend who had an acura integra that red lined at 9000 or so. It was way cool. Kind of like my R1.

WELL YEA!................My reason is trying to get the HP & TQ where I can. I lost sooooo much bottom end after installing the 5/8 spacer. I am thinking of doing some local autocross comps and would prefer to have more power down low vs. all of it in the high end. Plus, in this thread it says go with the mrev2 and the 5/16 spacer. For now I am just going to remove the spacer alltogether and see how it feels. I would also like to find where to flash my computer or if switching the G ECU for the Z ECU would work. I know it would have to be the same setup but could it work?

Whoa whoa whoa there cheapazz!

Try the MREV2 with the 5/8 spacer. I don't think you'll have the low end problem any more. The MREV2 is supposed to take care of the lost torque so that your torque is put back to normal, but your HP goes up with the spacer.

Flashing your ECU isn't going to do a whole lot. Look into the COBB tuning or something of the sort. The tuning on the G is decently agressive as it is. They're squeezing almost 300 hp out of a 3.5 L V6. Ford does that out of a 4.6L?

Forged pistons, titanium valve springs and possible a few other things. You basically have to have the engine "built" in order to handle the higher reciprocation speed. I think torque starts dying around 6000 rpms, so getting it up past 7500 may be useless.

Get underdrive pulleys if you want low end responsiveness.

Check this page out from Motordyne

Basically, after 1/4 inch it doesn't do much good to go larger...except with FI.

I realize that it doesnt change much to go beyond 1/4", but if you already have the part and its half the price, why wouldn't you?

I have the 3in nismo cai and its great. I also have headers and 2.5in test pipes with resonators both from meganracing.com . I have a 2.5in to 3in ypipe also. Little suspension parts would be great too. Eibach sways definitely did the job and have great warranty, stillen torque damper is incredible and the mastercylinder brace from stillen is alot great. Get a stainless steel clutch line if you have the 6mt G. Plus stainless steel brake lines are great also. Radiator shroud would allow your radiator to work more efficiently. Everything I have mentioned, I already have in my 05 g35 coupe, plus some more stuff. Good luck

Radiator shroud? You mean the fan shroud? Everybody should have one of those. If not, take your car back lol.

never heard of a "fan shroud" but when i purchased my "radiator shroud" from enjukuracing.com that is what they called it. Plus everywhere else where I have come across the same product its still called a radiator shroud. just so you know.

Just went on their site and searched for "Radiator Shroud" and came up with nothing. I also tried "G35 Radiator Shroud" and just "Shroud".

A google image search for "G35 radiator shroud" came up pretty lifeless too. There were a few pictures of other vehicles with things called "shrouds" which I think is a little offly defined. A shroud is a cover. I guess they could use that term with regards to the air diverter on top of the radiator.

I've been around cars and performance parts for 3 or 4 years and this is the first time I've read "radiator shroud". "Radiator Fan Shroud" is different.
