to replace it you need to take the engine out, take out the oil pan where it will be visible from there, but that is not the end of it, you have to get the cranksaft bracket out, also oil sending unit, crank pully, timing belt, flywheel, i'm sure i'm forgetting something else............ that is when the piston rods will be easy to replace.... however, there is a good chance that the timing will be messed up..... but i agree with what BoYo suggested, swaping the engine with a low milage will save a lot of money and hassle, as the money that you are going to spend for a mechanic to replace the rods (labour) will be a lot
