Ok, so I was changing my turbo today, from the stock one to one from an R32. Mine had some shaft play and the other one has none. So, I get the stock turbo off, and guess what I find out. The C33 turbo is a tad bit smaller than the R32 turbo...WTF? Also, the coolant line fittings that go from the back of the engine to the turbo on the C33 are smaller than the R32. So, now I have a problem. That problem is how the hell do I change the coolant lines from the R32 engine to my Laurel's engine. This truely blows major nuts. I have spent all morning and most of the afternoon fuking aruond with this thing, and I have gotten this far and now I am stuck.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Think I have figured out a solution. Gonna get the coolant lines off the other RB that I have and try to swap them in. Should be lots of fun since one of them runs behind the head and I have about 2" between the head and the firewall...woot. I'll keep ya all updated.

OK...I got the other lines on. Was a *****, but some 10" long needle nose pliers got the job done. This thread can be removed.

as long as you have a Skyline engine, you shouldn't have any problems. My engine, the Laurel, has different size fittings than the Skyline because, and I found this out yesterday, the Skyline has a little bit larger turbo to it. Now I know where the 10 hp difference between the Laurel/Cefiro and the Skyline comes from...lol

Well, after about 36 hours of down time, I have successfully completed my turbo swap. I know, it's still a stock turbo, but the Skyline RB20 turbo is a tad bit larger.

Things I have learned from this experience. Take your time, don't overlook the small stuff, be prepared to get REALLY DIRTY, have plenty of towls, buckets to catch coolant, have all the tools you need before you start...which I did sans a pair of 10" long needle nose pliers that I wasn't aware that I was gonna need...do it in stages, take frequent breaks when you start to get mad.

I found that if I were to get mad at something, I would walk away for about 10 minutes, have a smoke and a drink of water, and get back to it with a fresh attitude and mind...and it worked.

It will get a shakedown run on the highway Thursday or Friday. Hopefully, I got all the bolts on the exhaust mani and O2 housing tight, not to mention the coolant lines and oil lines to the turbo....

I'll let you know when I get her shookdown on how she runs.
