Hey im currently doing the s13 blacktop swap on my 93 coupe. Theres a few things that keep me from finishing the swap. But first let me let you know what i have and then i'll tell u guys the problem. I have a s13 blacktop with a redtop ECU(62) and a s14 harness..... Yea its a long story on how that happened.Well now the problem is that the car is only firing on 1 cylinder. So im not sure if its the wiring i messed up or ifs its the ecu, i changed the ignitor thinking it was the problem but i dont think it was, also might it be that i just cant use the s14 harness?? Anyhow if u guys can think of anything that would be of help plz post i really need my car done its been to damn long. Thanks in advance guys! I posted this in the tech forum aswell so plz some1 help!

I was looking on some ecu pinouts for you to see if the ignition signals were on the same pins. However, the s14 ecu looks like it has more pins than the s13 ecu. Did the s14 connecter go on to the s13 ecu?

Yea it did go in but i dont kno now if its s14 or type x. Snice i was wondering why it went in. It keeps sending out a code like the ignitor is fried but i just bought a new ignitor. This thing is driving me crazy.

Okay, looking at my diagrams, I think you have a harness from a 97-98 s13 (I guess that's a type-x). The only ignition pin that matches up between a redtop ecu and a 97-98 blacktop ecu IS cylinder number one so it sounds like you've got some incompatabilities. I'll attach the diagrams and let you look at them.

Next time read the rules.

1. Please search, too many threads are repeated. I will begin locking some of these threads as soon as I see them.

2. No commercial posting, it will be deleted. Continuous disregard of this rule will result in you being banned.

3. Keep the caps and swearing to a minimum, if you put caps and numerous exclamations in your thread topic I will either edit it or delete it. I know there are times where people get excited or pissed and want to rant, so let's just keep it to a minimum.

4. If you don't have something constructive to say then keep it to yourself. This doesn't rule out all negative commentary. Sometimes people just need to hear it straight to understand what it is they are doing, but keep it civil and keep it respectful!

5. Help make this forum serve you, report stuff to the moderators, and voice your opinions! We can't fix problems we don't see.

6. When making a thread, the topic needs to reflect your problem, question, and/or comment. No more ambigious thread titles.

Do yourself a favor and get the right harness for the right ecu and engine, you'll end up spending more money trying to pinpoint the problem(s). I know it might cost you $150 for the harness but IMHO it cost you so much already for the swap why not do it right the first time.

Reference your ignition wiring diagram to the pin-outs on the ECU.

An S14 harness is painfully obvious, it has a large white connector that plugs in as the power harness and it has about 6" of red and black wiring to the ECU power relay. Whereas all of the power on the S13 harness comes from the engine bay.

It sounds to me like you are using the J4 ignition harness with the 62 ECU. Which would cause the ignition to malfunction.

Stop trying to crank the motor and take out the CAS. Pull out the coilpacks and check the firing order as you spin the CAS. It should be 1 - 3 - 4 - 2
