Im guessing its a 240, but what year?

Check the intake and air filter, make sure nothing is clogged. Check the throttle body, you may have to clean that. Also, the AIV may be clogged and sending exhaust into your intake, so check that out too.

Also don't overlook the basics (plugs, wires, distributor, etc) I would check the MAF too.

Mine was idling up to around 3000 a couple days ago and I just cleaned the throttle body and it fixed it all up.

You're right its a 90 240sx, and i wanted to thank you for your advice. i will do and check what you told me to...i also noticed a while ago that my air filter was wet...kinda weird! not completely wet but one of the corners was a little bit wet. i was wondering if you knew what could that be. Thanx again

water vapor in the exhaust (H20 is a by-product of combustion) will condense as it goes through the AIV system, and will drip onto your air filter, but that also means the rest of the exhaust is going back through. you have a few choices: you can either take apart and clean the AIV, put a breather on it, or simply remove it all together

I cleaned my throttle body today, and i also checked the air intake and air filter, and i noticed that the air filter was dark on one spot, it looked burned on the bottom of it...what could that be, could it be that the exhaust smoke is going to it...please help.

It runs ok now after i cleaned, so far it hasnt idled weird or nothing.
