airbag check light became on after the recall service done on 2005 G35 sedan. Dealer claimed that there were nothing to do with the recall service. I've been back to the dealership a couple of times now for the issue, and every time I heard different stories: the first time they told me that the recall work was only done on the passenger side, and the code they read from the car was for driver side airbag; the second time I was told that the recall work was done on both passenger and driver side, and the code they read was different now, both driver side and passenger side airbag parts and sensors needed to be changed, and it would cost 2K to get it fixed.

Does anyone know whether it could be the airbag recall work that messed up the airbag system, and the dealer just simply denied any wrongdoing there? What can I do at this point to figure out what really went on? If you happen to know trustworthy mechanics that can help diagnose and repair, please let me know. Really appreciate your help.

forgot to mention that I live in SF bayarea, it'd be great if anyone can recommend a shop for me to get a 2nd hand opinion on what really was going on, or any suggestions on followup actions I can take.

Welcome to NICO!

Sorry for your troubles. Honestly, I would talk to the manager and have them prove it wasn't caused by them.

I am not sure if that will help, but certainly I will try. They told me that the work was done some wiring, and the problem now is with parts, so it's not their responsibility. I feel the burden is on me to figure out what is really wrong, since I am the one who is driving the car with airbag checklight on, while they can just keep punting on it.

If the airbag recall was the same one on my 08 G37, the fix was to replace the entire seat bottom at a cost to Infiniti of $3000. Also it was only for the passenger side. So if you didn't see a service order that said 3 grand to the company the airbag recall probably didn't have anything to do with your problem. Also the dealerships weren't stocking the parts to fix and had to order so you would have had to make two trips.

I had similar problem

2004-g35x-with-116-000-miles-t522742.ht ... t=flashing air bag#p6150150

Speak with the service manager, ask about wiring harness recalls or the number of failures.
Also contact Infiniti Customer Service and ask to speak to a supervisor. Ask the same questions.
I was successful in splitting the cost 3 ways between myself, the dealer and Infiniti. I also purchased the extended warranty from the dealer. It had expired but was a strong argument that they failed to locate the problem after 5 prior visits when the warranty was in effect.

Good luck

I just called infiniti customer affair as well. Their regional specialist will call me next Monday. Let's see how that goes. Thanks for sharing your experiences.

@pippen99 based on what I heard, the work was different for 2005 model: it was done on both passenger and driver side. for models 2006 and after, it was only done on the passenger side.
