about a month back, i traded my 2002 lancer for a 90 300zx, sadly it was auto, 3 weeks after getting it, the transmission started acting up, getting stuck in 3rd gear, wouldnt down shift, did a transmission flush, replaced the TPS, finally gave up and brought it to a shop, they told me it needed a $2000 transmission rebuild, i lucked out that someone was selling a 5speed parts car on craiglist, so i brought that for $700, so we're doing the swap at my school (i take auto repair).

So my questions are, which rear end would be better to use, the auto or manual, also Headers, when is the best time to do it? the parts car came with almost new headers. i go back to school on monday so i could use this info before then. thanks

first picture uptop is my car, the ones on the bottom is the parts car, the body of my car can use some work, the parts car doesnt need much but the bumper fixed but after pulling the motor out, see seen that the frame is starting to twist so gonna junk it after we're done.

im pretty sure youll need the M/T rear Diff. i could be mistaken tho....mind you if your doing the transmission swap youll need a M/T driveshaft for a 2+2 as well...

as far as the headers im sure what you mean by "doing them", if you wanted to put some new ones on or even aftermarket ones, now would be the time b/c the engine is already out, also if not taken care of already it would be a good idea to do all seals and gaskets just so YOU know it was done.

Nico has been kinda dead lately :frown:

the last 3 pics are the parts car, the motor was nearly taken apart, they have aftermarket headers on them, my car, (the first pic that has the auto transmission) the motor is still in the car, guessing it'll be easier to put the headers on while the transmission is outta the way?

i tried goggling gear ratios but i can only find stuff between the TT auto and manuals

I am pretty sure the differential on n/a's is the same regardless of it being auto or manual. The driveshaft difference came from the transmission's being different. Now the tt and n/a diff's are different. As for the headers not sure what you want to do, but the best time is obviously well the engine is out of the car. Would also be a good time to do some deletes like egr etc.
