Car does nothing. He said he noticed radio going in and out, had power just couldn't hear it, then the wipers would wipe a time or two then stop, then the car died and will not crank back up. Will not turn over, click , or nothing. He says the headlights work no dash lights when the key is turned on but nothing happens in start mode. '91 240sx auto, bone stock

Any ideas?

My first thought is that you have a charging sysem issue like a bad alternator or a missing alternator belt.......I would start there....

I will agree it wounds like a charging issue. I would try boosting it and see what happens. You may need to get a tow depending on where it is.

Oh, and just for fun, check the fuses in the fuse box right by the battery.

A little more info; The car died @ road speed (65) was running excelent up to that point except for the radio cutting out and and the wipers wiping intermitantly on their own. these things started happening about 10min before it died. The car was towed 3 1/2 hrs with flashers on and when we unloaded it we turned the headlights on and they burned normal so I dont think battery or alt. is an issue. The car will not turn over, their are no dash lights and I dont think the fuel pump is running when the key is turned on. I have checked every fuse that the car has under hood and inside and found nothing wrong. All I am concerned with right now is getting the engine to turn over, will deal with the rest as I go down the line. Can anyone tell me just what it takes to make the starter turn the engine over? That way maybe I can chase that problem down.

I would start checking grounds. I had something similar happen after an engine swap. The headlights were fine, but the starter wouldn't crank. (I swapped 3 before I figured it out) Check the integrity of the battery (-) side, and grounds from the engine to the chassy. It might be a wiring harness ground that came off. Run a few grounds of your own to be sure. Lights seem to have their own circuit. (Did you check battery voltage?)
