Sorry for the bold letters in the title but I need immediate assistance. I have a 99 infinty i30 and I believe the security feature is preventing me from starting the car. I had a mechanic look at it and here is what he came up with.

The diagnostic thingie only comes up with o2 sensor data? The injecter is getting power, but no pulse? Has a spark. Will start with ether but stalls once the ether burns out.

I just put a new battery in it and the next morning I heard my alarm going off. I didn't even know it had an alarm. There is no keyfob. I couldn't figure out how to disable the alarm so I found a little panel to the left of my steering wheel where a red led was blinking. There were two wires inside. I pulled them out but the alarm was still going off. I just walked away and it would turn off on its own. Then everytime I opened the door the alarm would go off. I would just drive it with the alarm sounding. Then I drive to run some errands and when I come out the car won't start.

the lights come on, the dash lights up. It sounds like its going to start but it just won't kick over. Please tell me if there is a way to disable the stupid alarm on this car.

I need a reply ASAP as it is my only car and I'm tired of bumming rides! I don't have the cash to take it to a dealer so that's not an option.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Does the car try to start? If the alarm is preventing starting, the starter will not even engage.

Try locking and unlocking the driver's door with the key. You might also want to try locking the car with the door open, then closing it, then unlocking with the key (as though you're getting out to leave the car). Since you don't have a keyfob, you have probably already done this. But using the key in the driver door SHOULD shut off the alarm once it trips.

The car did originally come with a keyfob. The unlock button on the keyfob normally disarms the factory alarm. Ebay is usually a good cheap source of keyfobs if you want to buy one.

If it's an aftermarket alarm, I'd recommend finding the alarm module and disabling it. Otherwise, you can try removing the factory alarm fuse (probably labelled "anti-theft" and probably under the hood...I don't know for sure with the ~'99).

yes, the car tries to start. I tried everything you suggested as well as turning the ignition to "on" and then disconnecting the batt for a few minutes. nothing. I had the car towed and am stocking up on vaseline in anticipation of the reaming the auto shop is going to give me. Thanks for the advice.
