so of course i'm having some minor problems with the car, as always.first off, about 1/2 a year ago when i took off the intake manifold and redid the vacuum lines and what not i noticed these secondary throttle body looking things sitting at the end of the intake runners, just before the pcv inlets... i noticed they are controlled by vacuum and the other day i was having some issues with idle and hesitation. i checked all the pipes and everything that would possibly cause this but had no luck finding a problem. there was a high pitched whistle coming from the back of the intake manifold so i started fiddling with things back there and when i moved the control arm on that secondary throttle body thing my idle jumped up a bit. can someone explain these things to me and if they could malfunction or whatever, just let me know all the details.the other thing is that lately my cars idle has been kind of weird at times. it doesn't do this often but sometimes i'll be sitting there and then the car will drop down really low and almost die then shoot up again... weird idle. then the other day, this is the first time this has happened and it hasn't happened since, but i got in my car and started to drive and it wouldn't go... it hesitated like crazy as if the mafs was disconnected, but all the plumbing seems fine and there are no apparent leaks or anything like that. the hesitation was short and like 1 minute later the car drove fine, as if nothing had happened. it hasn't done that since then. i'm guessing that the idle and the hesitation are related, but i mean usually in these circumstances i know exactly where to turn... the plumbing and the mafs and stuff like that because this is generally a rpoblem related to air getting into the engine but not passing the mafs... well i have had no luck finding such an instance so i'm wondering what else could be the problem... i have a walbro pump and a rrfpr also and have heard of these things having problems... could the pump be the problem? it seems to be running rich all the time also. anyway any help is greatly appreciated. thanks.

Hmm....I don't mean to be a jerk, but...

"the car idles better than ever and has no problems because of the missing iacv. i have had tons of problems with idle, but i have had absolutely zero problems related to the iacv after i blocked it off."

You just posted that in my thread about not being able to hold 15 psi. But apparently you ARE having some major problems?!?

Sorry i can't help, but I just noticed that....

yeah, no i completely understand...i was kind of worried about contradicting myself here but this just happened like twice... the idle isn't really a problem right now, it's just been running weird and i had 2 dips in the throttle the other day so i thought it may be related to whatever was making my car hesitate... and the problem is that it only did this like a few times, and since it's inconsistent it's even harder to locate the problem.

the fact is my idle has been perfect for over 7 months now... that's when i blocked off the iacv. i'm pretty sure i just have a vacum leak or something but i am having a hard time locating any problems...

i wouldn't call this a major problem because my car boosts up fine and everything is okay for the most part it has just had some intermittent problems that i can't figure out.

i was just really curious about these secondary throttle body things.

yeah your car doesn't NEED an IACV, and often times a poorly or improperly functioning one will just lead to problems.

no one knows what i'm talking about?

at this point i am almost 100% positive i have a boost leak i just have to find it.

the secondary throttle body things are somewhat unrelated. i just wnt to understand their operation, and whether it is necessary to have them hooked up to vacuum, etc... i don't know anything about how they work really.thanks.
