I need tips to remove the axel without (as noted in the Shop Manual) pulling the right axel and using a tool to rap on to push the left axel out. What about tips to reinstall axel to get the retainer on the end of the axel shaft to seat back in the transaxel.

I really do not need to pull the right axel because it was replaced 4 months ago. I know probably should have done the left axel at that time.

Also any tips on driving the axel through the bearing area once the 34mm nut is loose? Does the spline shaft generally rust in?

Any help appreciated.Thanks

First the higher in the air U can get it the better! Then once U remove all necessary parts take a big prybar and wedge it in between the fat round axle piece and the frame for leverage and pop it out. Reinstalling is hit or mis sometime but don't start snatching or U will damage the joint and will get a vibration when driving. U can lube up the splines and retainer clip and place it in the trans as far as it can go and find a safe area on the same fat area of the inner joint but, outter section of the inner joint this time. Then using a pipe or 2x4 or long prybar tap it with a large hammer to get it to pop into place. DO NOT Hit the boot area or U will be buying another axles.
