Was trying to remove some road tar from the bottom of the doors and fenders on my recently purchased 04 G35x (sedan), ivory pearl. I used the light rubbing compound and was having a real difficult time removing it. Got some of it off but there is still plenty left, I guess it's from the silicone or armor all they put on the tires when the car is washed. Does anyone know of any products that will remove this tar off the the vehicle? I remember I have a bottle of 3M glaze that is used at the body shops. Will this help remove this crap?

Too much/heavy for a claybar job? And if you're going to claybar the bumper you should probably go ahead and do the whole car! Then polish that baby up!

Goo gone or a similar orange oil based remove that states it's safe for clear coats.

I would hold off on the rubbing compound. You may find out that you left little swirls in the paint if it's not done correctly.

Try the goo gone and be patient with it, tar doesn't dissolve easily.

might want to try a power washer! YOu could take it off with that and never touch the pain!

Goo gone might help too

I tried the goo gone and it does work, however there are some tiny tar spots that seem pretty old and it's giving me a hard time taking off. Bought the Turtle Wax tar remover also. Tried it, took some it off also, still have some more to go. Might just go get the car detailed. Too much work, i'll be out there for hours!

How do you post pics on here?

Damn cops gave me a ticket for my freshly installed tints!!!

Don't know the age or severity, but I've always used WD-40 or Pro-Long spray to get road grime, tar, gum, etc off of my lower sections. Just spray the hell out of it and let it sit. Rub gently and reapply as needed. It's non-abrasive, and helps lubricate the area while you rub. Just make sure to wash the area down well when done and then give it a good coat of wax. Just my $.02.

Wet dryer sheets I know it sounds wacky, but it works. Got all the tree sap of my car with it that way - just make sure you wash/wax after your get the crap off.

Haha, i know, it is really odd too - and i have no idea why. It worked like a charm, and no swirling or paint issues afterwards. Washed it and waxed the areas, and it looks brand new!
