I'm replacing my chain guides today. I'm having problems removing my crank pulley. I got the bolt off and removed the washer then put the bolt back on. My puller is breaking the lips! Any help would be great!

Put the puller on the middle lip, not on the very back lip.

Thanks for the fast reply. I pulled it from the middle lip and my puller is ripping it apart! 3 chips so far.

I just did mine. Read thru this post for ideas: zerothread?id=92996

Make sure your puller is big enough that it pulls somewhat straight out on the pulley. It would have been easier to have an additonal person to hold the puller straight while tightening the bolt on the puller.

Nice! I got it. New chain guides installed! And did I catch it in time! The Drivers side guide was split in half. The other half was sitting on the bottom of the oil pump chain guide! Nothing dropped in my pan. I'm going to measure with my digital micrometer the old oil pump chain and the new chain to see if there''s any difference. Thanks everybody!

I'm sure you are finished by now, but just in case, I found a crankshaft pulley on ebay.

Thanks, But I found one 5 miles from me! I know, I'm lucky. A junk yard has a 95 there now.But the chain guide job is now completed. My problem with the pulley was my 3 jaw puller was a little to small. I'm so lucky I caught the chain guide in time. Half of the piece was sitting on the bottem oil chain guide just waiting to drop in there. Thank you for such a great site! If it were'nt for you guys my Q would have died.

Thanks, That pulley on ebay looks like its for a 4 wheel steering Q. Another thing I noticed is my new pulley is from a 1995 and the inside of it (Where the crank bolt is) There's some counter weight screws in there. My stock pulley did not have those. The car idles a lot smoother! I also weighed the two pulleys and the 1995 pulley was .85 pounds lighter! and the 95 pulley had more counter weights on there. Very interesting.

back in the day, we'd put a wrench on the pulley bolt, jam it on something, then crank the engine slightly so it would do the work... of course I probably wouldn't do that with a Q

I also added a transmission cooler when I had the radiator out.
