I have a 1993 240 fastback. This is my daily driver. Guys I really need some help because without this car i can't work or go to school. this is what happen.

Today after visiting my cousin i get in my car and i usually clutch in and start the car and put it in 3rd and back into neutral(don't ask its a habit). well it was real hard gettin into 3rd. then on my way to the highway its starting to get harder and harder to put into any gear. but once in gear its fine. awhile later i notice the clutch pedal doesn't pop back into position like it usually does, but instead it comes back half way, stops and then comes back fully. also the clutch just sinks down until the last few centimeters where there is a lil pressure. after traveling bout 30 miles i exit and i CAN NOT PUT THE CAR INTO ANY gears. feels like the clutch isn't fully depress when its already on the floor. at this point the clutch pedal doesn't even wanna pop back up anymore.

anyone got any ideas of what this problem might be? I hope i don't have to get a new transmission. damn. and does anyone know a good/reputable mechanic shop in the NYC area? Tomorrow is my last day off from work for this week so i need to get this [censored] fixed fast. thanks a bunch for any info.

you have a hydrolic leak in your clutch system. either the master is leaking into the car just above your clutch pedal. or you have a slave cyl leaking(mounted on the passenger side of the trans near the bottom. replace which ever one is leaking and bleed the system. Your car is a pain to bleed and the process has been thoroughly covered in the 240 tech section as well as in online mechanic. do a search for the details on this so you dont get frustrated. This way you'll go in knowing your gonna be there awhile and be able to get it handled.

Thank you very much. Couldn't really see anything last nite when this happened but now i can and i do see the leak into the car and the master is real low on fluid. Is it hard to change the master cyl.? is that the one connected to the clutch pedal?

I'm going to search for the bleed and installation but can you give a basic run down on the installation part? How long do you think it would take a average DIY'er? thanks again.

couple hours time wise. including the bleed process. its held on by a couple bolts and one hydrolic line will need to be disconnected as well as the clevis pin that connects the master to the pedal. be sure to bench bleed the master before installing it ,this will help a little on the bleed part of it. make sure you have someone to help you bleed it. It is not a one person process.

thanks NISTECH but i've skipped the process of installing myself and took it too a professional. Didn't want to mess up especially with the limited amount of day light now, and end up with no car for a couple of days. everything is fine.
