You may have to cut and splice onto the existing wire

really? you would think they would make it like the nissan maxima's to where it just simply snaps in. has anybody had to replace a fog light bulb?

What you have in your hand in the first pic is the bulb assembly. New bulbs should come with that blue wire:

When i replaced my bulb, i pried off the old bulb connection (the silver clip in your 3rd picture) and clamped on a new female connector to slide the new bulb in. Very simple

yea the new bulb is connected to that blue wire in the 1st picture. im just confused about how the metal piece at the other end connects with the clear rubber thing thats covered by the black tape.

Then splice the two wires together using a butt connector and a crimper. DO NOT wrap the wires around each other and then electrical tape them up. That WILL cause a fire. A good electrical repair kit at Auto Zone is no more than 15 bucks.

Ace2cool's method works as well but crimping a female connector on the factory harness will make the bulb easily removable and replaceable

If you use the typical connector available in the local stores, pull the wire all the way through and have enough to loop back a little. Those connectors are not easy to get a good crimp and many times the wire will pull straight out when you try to disconnect. I usually loop a bit of the wire back and solder the connection, then heat shrink tubing over the connection. This way, the crimp is still making good contact and the solder will hold it in place.

you can get them at any auto parts store.

Agreed with marty1mc. At the very least, i would crimp the connections VERY well and heatshrink it. Heatshrink tubing can also be found at the auto parts store. Crimp the female connector on the main harness and slip the tubing on the wire of the new bulb, connect the bulb to the harness, slip the tubing on, and heat it up with a lighter till it shrinks and seals the connection

Only reason I didn't suggest that was because I saw how little wire is left on the stock housing, and didn't think that it would be a very good idea to cut any more off.

Glad to hear it's sorted out. Have fun with your Z, Lord knows we need foglights in Cali.... :tisk:
