Need help putting HICAS into diagnostic mode ...

Hi, my Hicas light comes on only comes on when my car is going around 70 mph or faster, never before. I can take corners hard at around 40 but it never comes on, it seems as if the speed is making it come on. One time I heard a loud squealing going about 70 on the highway, the hicas light came on (locking it up) and the squealing went away. Anyways I follow the fac serv manual to a T when attempting to put Hicas into diagnostic mode, but can never get it on, (it is the most ridiculous procedure to get car into hicas mode btw w/out a consult) is there something I'm missing or any tricks that can be done to make this easier? btw consult doesnt usually have hicas access in it. and in alot of cases abs access. we have to use the same"rediculas procedure" you are following.

NISTECH, I see you respond to a lot of posts, that's cool and helpful of you. I have a 92 Fastback SE w/ Hicas. (Which oddly doesn't have ABS, I thought it would since its the Hicas model. ) Per FSM, there is a Hicas button on the consult that puts it into hicas mode which is why I stated that. Anywho, I have tried at least a dozen times, please take me step by step on 'exactly' how you do it. I do it the way the FSM tells me w/ no luck. On the last steps when you 'press on clutch, move car to any gear besides neutral, then back to neutral and release clutch' you then have to move the car at 1mph for at least 3 meters. Can I put it back into first to do it or does someone need to push it so as not to mess up the input code?

no you can drive the car for that step. nissan's procedure wouldnt have you push the car. I am not sure of the procedure off the top of my head. If the fsm mentions using consult to activate diag mode then it is consult compatable. I havent used a hicas diag procedure in a long time if you could scan and post the procedure or email it to me to refresh me I can probably help you get through it. I realize to the gp that manual can be very confusing if you dont figure out the englinese language they use.I have dealt with it for several years now. try sending it or posting it.
