I've got everything loose except the top bolts. I can barely touch them much less turn them with a ratchet. Help!! Any tips appreciated.

A super long swivel head extention, or extention with an extention at the end. A swivel extension is best though. Gl.

Remove the bolts connecting the transmission to the trans crossmember. Then, simply jack up the rear of the transmission (at the output shaft). That'll give you some extra room between the bell housing and the firewall.

Think I used two long extensions with a swivel on the end.

If you can break them loose, try and see if you can get a gearwrench in there. I think i was able to do so on mine. A set at Sears is about $50, but so worth it.

Be patient, don't strip em or your SOL...

I usually get at it with a couple 1/2 extensions. Nice and long and you won't need a swivel.

You might want to fully reinstall the lower bolts to remove the pressure off the input shaft if you use this method. Plus your rear main seal will thank you.
