You need a new shifter bushing. Take off the center console and the shifterplate and your bushung should be shot. Has your shifter dropped?

I ment to say mount. It is a big rubber mount that is an oem item only. I was tired when I responded to you sorry. You can order the mount from nissan. I would not recomend a used one.

are we talking about an automatic or a 5 speed?the only linkage on a manual is in the trans itself, is the clutch disengaging? can you shift the gears if the car is not running?

and if it's an automatic, I believe it's a simle cable that runs to the lever on the side of the trans that might need to be adjusted and tightened

It seems your shifter bolt has come out from the linkage assembly. At the bottom of the shifter rod there is a bolt that bolts the rod to a fork that comes out of the transmission. If the shifter has free play everywhere and the car is stuck in gear then that is it. The only way to get to it is from underneeth the car. I don't remember if you have to drop the driveshaft or not to get to it. Good Luck...

You can do it yourself and all it will cost you is a bolt, nut, and a new set of shifter bushings from nissan. It might cost you maybe $25 in parts and maybe two to three hours in time. I can't remember if you can get to it from under the car without taking out the driveshaft, if you can then it would only take a matter of minutes. (15 to 30)

hey guys, Mine was bad too but I fixed it with,,,Get ready for this (i am cheap sometimes)LOL.......I took two sink rubber washers and drilled hole a little bigger,(they fit perfect inside the round section) then took a piece of hose, i believe it was fuel hose, to make a spacer between the two rubber washers. Then inserted bolt with nut and wha la....LOL It has been fine now for over three months. Feels tight and cost nothing, stuff i had laying around.
