I need help! New Boss sparkplugs, fuel and air filter. It was running good, until one day the car acted up. Everytime I stepped on the gas pedal, it hesitated like one engine die. I went and bought a used distributor with very good wires on it. This time I did mess up. I readed instruction on autozone site, but I did it wrong. I rotated the crankshaft to tdc, but did not mark where the position rotor pointing at which ignition wire on the distributor cap. When I put in the new distributor, it did not start at all. The engine is Disturbed now. I followed the step from autozone site and rotated crankshaft to tdc at 0 degree. I putted in the new distributor with the rotor pointing to #1 ignition on the cap. It is started and timing is very off. I had to turn the distibutor all the way to the left in order for the engine to start. Engine runs very rough at idle. I don't know if I set the tdc right or not. There are total 7 marks on the pulley. I picked the last mark as it is showing 0 as tdc when you rotated crankshaft clockwise on autozone website. The other 6 marks as to 5,10,15,20,25,and 30btdc. Any help would be appreciate. AS for now the engine start, but run very rough at idle and also no power when step on gas pedal.

I would start by making sure all plug wires are going to the correct plugs and correct positions on the distributor. It sounds like you may just have one or two plugs out of sequence.

Cylinder #1 is on the passenger side of the rear bank. 2 is passenger side front bank, 3 is middle rear bank, etc....

Thank you for your post ministerofDoom. I did not unplug any of the sparkplug wires on cap or sparkplug wires. As for what you descrip, it is the same. I use the timing light and the mark is off. One revolution on crankshaft timing mark is always behind the 7 marks. standing in fron of car I turned the distribution all the way to right and the engine run rough until dead. The engine has to be turned all the way to left in order to run. I swapt the old distributor and it is the same as new distributor. Did I set the TDC correctly? 180 degree turned is for exhaust. 360 degree on compression stroke, I did place a long stick inside of the #1 sparkplug, and feft the piston on top of it compression stroke. The crankshaft was on the last mark turning crankshaft clockwise and the distrubutor rotor line on #1 sparkplug cap. I think I did it right, otherwise the engine is not going to start at all. Any posts about the timing mark would be help. The engine is still running rough. Thank u!
