hey alright so my last motor blew and i swaped a 96 KA in my s13 and suprisingly it started first try. but when i give it throttle it does nothing =/ i can floor the peddle and it doesnt even go past 1k rpms. and yes i have the throttle cable hooked up!! and i still have the 93 ecu in would that have anything to do with it??

The Ecu shouldn't have anything to do with it. I know the 96 Ka has a internal coil in the distributor but you must have that good or it wouldn't start at all. Fuel pressure, have the MAF all the way in?

yea maf is in all the way and fuel pressure didnt cheak yet and i just found out that if you can manage to get it above 3k rpm it has throttle response but its slow. and i forgot to say that it also doent idle. and remember that i put the 93 KA tps on the 96 cuz it had a weird second plug on the front of it should i swap the 96 one back over?? would that be my problem??

I'm almost positive that you would need the TPS for the '96. Just try it at least and let us know if it worked

that second plug on the tps is for an automatic. when you changed your tps did you adjust it correctly, if not it wont run right, thay are very sensitive. swapping back the other tps wouldn't work either unless you adjust it as well, you cant just go by the bolt marks, not good enuff.

hey so i finally got the car to idle its still alil rough but it will run by itself. but i ran into another problem. my car sounds like its misfiring i just changed rotor,cap,plug wires(magister performance) and plugs but that didnt help its still doing it and seems to be happing more at idle. and i have a slight loss of power but i have a 3inch exhaust is that to big for the N/ A KA?

if you messed with the injectors at all thay could be leaking giving you an excessively rich condition at an idle. and no the 3 inch is fine. i have one on my na and it loves it.

i did have a bad injecter on the 4th and didnt know if any others were bad so just swaped my old fuel rail from my bad motor over and im pretty sure thos were all good cuz i checked em befor my rings went bad and they were all fine.

start unplugging injectors at an idle. one at a time and it will tell you which cyl is dead. its a start point.

i will try again but the idle is so rough you really cant tell if theres a change in it when you pull them

Did you try advancing the timing? Maybe when the engine was swapped in the distributor could've moved itself closer to TDC?

at first thats what my buddie and i thought but we move the dizzy all over the place and we chouldnt get it any better then it already was.

so i found my ecu was throwing 2 codes

13 temp sensor circuitand 21 + ignition signal circuit

can anyone tell me what they mean? i know the temp on is my temp sensor one is prolly cuz my temp sensor went bad but whats the ignition mean?? like what part of my ignition is bad?

Code 21 has to do with the ignition signal (ignition coil,resistor,power transistor,and possibly the ecm).If you have a code 11(crankshaft position sensor)check that first.

i thought that to but i unpluged it while it was running and it got worse so in theory doent that mean its still working?

definately change that temp sensor it makes you car act all stupid. if it thinks its cold it will try to close the swirl valves like a choke, it will also richen up the mixture and fuss with the timing trying to warm the motor up. change that first as its the cheaper fix. after thats done if it still runs like crap its entirely possible your ignitor is going out and your getting weak spark.

where is the ignitor located? is that the coil on the wheel well the the right of the motor??

the ignitor on the s13 is strapped to the back of the coil bracket, im not sure about the s14 but it should be in the same place.

so can i replace just the ignitor or do i need to replace the hole starter coil?

you can just replace the ignitor alone. sometimes its called an ignition control unit.

i have the exact same swap and i am having the exact same issues..wont idle, dies, third cylinder is dead but getting gas. if u do find the problem pleease lemme know and i will do the same for you. thx. good luck.

tthis thing is really starting to piss me off i have now checked the tps twice replaced dissy rotor and cap, plug wires, plugs, both temp things and the ignition coil have the ignitor to replace but from what i hear they are pretty pricy so is there any way i can check it befor i go and buy a new one??

yay so the ignitor didnt work eather........i discoverd somthing interestinf tho. my o2 sensor came unpluged and i didnt have a cheak engine light so im thinkin my ecu could be bad??
