Can someone with more than half a brain please help me out with this question... i just ordered a set of the wheels pictured below with the 3.5" lip for the front and the rear, instead of "staggered" as they are supposed to be applied. i felt a nissan sentra shouldn't be played off as a rear wheel drive. anyways.. the distributor said these wheels would fit on my '07 spec v and i was stupid to take his word for it against my better judgment. well they just arrived earlier today and what do you know but the damn things don't fit over my brake calipers in the front. when i called him, he wants me to pay the shipping cost back to him and also a 25% restocking fee i asked him if i returned them for the 1.5" lip version would they fit better, possibly with a small spacer. he's trying to tell me the brake clearance is the same on both wheels. now, if both are 8" wide, and both have a 40mm offset, the way they get the larger lip appearance is because they changed the pitch of the spokes on the face so they would angle back deeper into the wheel, right? so the smaller lip version should have slightly more clearance, right? in the picture you can even see the difference in space behind the spokes. anyone think the smaller lip will fit and is it worth me trying? what the hell am i supposed to do now? thanks for listening

brake clearance isnt determined by offset normally

thanks for the input as$. i did do research and i also had to go by what the vender was telling me since i didn't have the wheel physically sitting in front of me. i would need to put a 1" spacer on there to get these wheels to fit and sorry but i don't like that thug look. i understand that offset doesn't have anything to do with the brake clearance, that's exactly what i'm trying to explain and why one wheel would have more clearance behind the spokes than the other. and if you aren't able to comprehend what i am saying about the difference in brake clearance between these two wheels with same design, width and offset but different lip sizes then don't comment because your smart as$ remarks aren't needed or appreciated. maybe you need to do a little research on basic physics. have a nice day.

Youre thinking is partially correct. Like Yokota said, brake clearance isnt determined by offset.

If those wheels have the same offset, theoretically the one with the smaller lip will have more brake clearance. How much? Theres no way to tell other than mounting them up. Id try it, and see if it works. If it doesnt, paying another 25% restocking fee is going to suck.

If youve ever thought about buying really expensive wheels, they give you the option of Hi-Disk and Low-Disk. Thats essentially the same concept, because one has more brake clearance and the other has more lip.

i gues you really just dont know who i ami AM the wheel guy here, like it or not.

with cheap wheels, lip and width have nothing to do with brake clearance, it just means that the honda they are meant to go on gets a little more lip

dont be cheap, buy real wheels

but, unless the front wheels are DESIGNED for larger brakes, which could be posible, but you need to talk to someone who know what the **** they are talking about at the company (which could be hard) you wont know

dont talk **** to me, you take my ****. thats the way it works when you ask dumb questions

BUT if you want the REAL wheels (they are work and piaa rozza knockoffs btw) let me know

yokota

i see your amount of posts and your little fancy signature. if you're in charge of giving advice in the wheel forum than give advice. don't be a prick. if you felt my question was stupid because you obviously either don't understand what i am asking or you don't know the answer, then you didn't have to waste your oh-so-valuable time responding to it. and i know the wheel i have bought is a replica of the piaa super rozza. there are a bunch more just like it. however not everyone wants to spend twice the money when they look exactly the same on the car. if that's your thing, by all means please enjoy yourself. i don't have a problem mounting "cheap knockoffs" onto my car when its the exact same thing. besides if you do YOUR research you'll realize that the r-1 version, although only a 1-piece wheel, actually weighs a pound less that the $600 a wheel piaa's. so thank you for your input but please don't patronize the people who you think maybe don't know as much as you do. like i said, if you're in charge of this forum and you know so much about wheels you might want to actually try helping people.

Hell, If I was fat and ugly Id try my best to be an e-thug too.

For the love of God listen to him it's a fruitless debate getting into it with Yokota. Take his advice as it is and ignore the douchebaggery.
