HelloI just had the ignition modules, wire harness, converters replaced in my 90 Q45 and just got off the phone with the mechanic. He said that it is starting and firing, it's just not getting enough firing. He said that it's not firing all the way. Can anyone tell me what could be the problem?

Somebody else can help, I'm sure ...

... but I just wanted to suggest that you drive the 140 miles to T3 next time. It's just SO annoying when the techs don't know what to do - makes me nervous about the stuff they repaired, too.

Not firing all the way? Some cylinders are firing and some aren't? Don't know what he means. Qowner has good advice--process of elimination shouldn't include replacing parts based on hope.

They're still throwing parts at your Q? Please, oh please take our advice. Get your car to T3 if it's driveable enough to get it there...

I decided to do some searching and found this:

I'm NOT a tech, but since you haven't gotten any good answers yet, I decided to see what I could find using "firing" in the search field here. It seems reasonable to think that it's an electrical issue - a missed reconnection when they replaced the stuff - bad ground, sumpin like that. My guess is that they need to do some work with a multimeter.

Maybe a waste of time, but I'm impressed at what you can learn from searching old posts.
