I am in need of a new turbo for my blacktop sr. The stock one is shot and smoking a lot, so I meed to narrow down my options in purchasing a new one. I would like to stay with my current manifold and downpipe, so I am looking for a replacement that has a little more power than stock. I see a turbo on eBay a lot that says its a t25/t28 bybrid with t-04 internals. Anyone know anything about these? You input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!

You need a Garret Flux Capacitor. you can go warp 12 with it...

Get an s14 or s15 t28. Stay away from the hybrids. Until you upgrade your fuel system, don't turn the boost past 10psi (could handle around 12 but to be safe...)

send your T25 into Forced Performance to be made into an FPbig28. Supportable to 330whp and spools hellishly fast. 18-20psi by 3200rpm i think.

if you have the s13 blacktop then you have the t25 turbo. a slight upgrade would be the gt28r out of the s14. a little bit (but not much) above that would be the gt28rs out of a manual s15.

*note - the automatic s15 has the same turbo as the s14

also, do not buy an offbrand turbo. garrett, hks, ect... a turbo is not a part that you want to go offbrand on.

GT28RS = Disco Potato and is not the S15 turbo. An s15 T28 is the same as an s14 T28 but comes with a divided exhaust housing and an inconel turbine wheel. For picture of s15 turbo.http://www.courtesyparts.com/M...ET-TC

Hey all, thanks for your input! I think I am going to avoid the eBay turbo and probably just go with the T28 option. I have a few other questions though if you all don't mind:

1. What is the difference between a T28 from a silvia and a T28 from a Skyline?2. What all would I need to upgrade in my fuel system in order to support a turbo upgrade running more boost?3. Anyone have a T28 in good shape laying around that they want to get rid of? Thanks so much, I really appreciate it!

Try to get the Silvia t28's. For some reason (I may be wrong) but I was under the impression that Skyline turbos (espeically those from the rb25's) are very weak and prone to breaking due to inferior materials used.

Surf the classifieds here, Zilvia, Freshalloy, or SR20forum and just get a nice one there. There are always options available.

I know my buddy ray is stilling his GTiR center section with a custom to4 housing that his friend (Rob Cadel) machined for him at Garrett. Only thing you'll need is the turbine housing (his had a hairline crack on it at the flange.)

Skyline turbos (GTR) are smaller than SR turbos and have ceramic (not really "inferior") turbine housings which break apart when higher than stock boost levels are demanded. RB25's use t3 flanged turbos and will not bolt to an SR.

I answered your first question on my last reply but as for the fuel system, with a T28 you can simply keep your fuel system stock (assuming you've already got an upgraded fuel pump which should already be in place if you are running an sr). S14 K's came with the same injectors and a t28...just don't crank the boost past 10~12psi. For a little more power, get yourself a Z32 MAF and S15 injectors, SAFCII or ecu tune, and you'll have close to 300 @ the wheels!

Oh and I'm also assuming (which is always a bad thing) that you already have supporting mods like a FMIC, 3" exhaust, intake, ect).

Yeah, I already have the suporting stuff, ie Blitz FMIC, equal length manifold, blitz DP, Apex cat back, Walboro fuel pump.

So, I should just look for a T28 off of a newer silvia so that I can re use my manifold, and it is probably a safer way to boost. I also have a modified ECU, but I am not sure what all was done to it. Zero Lift, in Cincinati, gave it to me because they took so long shipping my harness when I did my swap about 2 years ago. I don't know what exactly was done to it, but I do know that it has no rev limiter and it seems to run really rich (although I don't have an A/F ratio gauge hooked up).

Thanks again everyone!

I wouldn't run that ecu without knowing what its tuned for.

I've been running it for almost 2 years and it has been fine thus far. It seems to run great and, other than the turbo going out, everything with the swap and the ecu have been great.
