About a month ago, i bought a 93 Nissan Sentra(Ga16). It drove fine for about 2 weeks then the blower for the heater just died. I'm guessing its the blower because its not blowing any air at all. This sucked but i could live with it. Yesterday, its been a month now, i was driving and noticed the temperature just start creeping up towards Hot. I pulled over checked the coolant and noticed that the hose coming (the top one) from the engine was hot but the one going to the engine(the lower right one if facing the car) was cold. I couldn't do anything at that point and since i still had coolant and it was not all the way to hot, i decided to just finish up the drive, another 10 minutes or so on backroads.

When i finally got home and opened up the hood, i heard a loud banging noise coming from the radiator. Its like something is being banged from one side to the other and its slow, like bang........bang........bang. The radiator actually shakes everytime it does this. I think something is stuck but i didn't know that there were movable parts in the radiator.

If anybody knows what this may be, please let me know. This is sort of my only functional car at this moment and i really need to be able to drive to work on monday. I'm assuming whatever is going on in the radiator is also related to the heating problem.

A friend suggested that it might be the thermostat and i was thinking the same thing until i heard the noise from the radiator. now i'm not so sure.

Thank you for any help you can provide

Banging in the radiator is awfully odd.

I think you're only choice is to pull it and take a look inside as best you can. Maybe there's a blockage impeding coolant circulation.

you shouldve fixed the blower. it sounds like rad fluid wants to go in, but not come out. do a radiator flush and try it again. not to insult your intelligence, but please: DISPOSE OF THE ANTI-FREEZE PROPERLY! that stuff is toxic, dont just dump it in the side yard.
