Hi,

I just bought a Noco genius battery charger.

I drive multiple short distances a day, and my battery lacks the juice to start my car some times. I plan to charge my battery at home.

There are a few modes to choose from:

12V

12V AGM

12V Lithium

6V

Does anyone know what the original battery for 2017 Nissan Rogue is?

Thanks!

Does it say AGM on it? if not, use 12V (lead acid). Never heard of a 12v lithium car battery from factory because they are super expensive and its not 6V.

+1.

The only lithium batteries for vehicles that I am familiar with are motorcycle batteries where the weight savings are more beneficial. But VERY pricey.

Also, you may have a charging issue, or the battery could just need replacing. If you drive daily, there's no real reason you should need a charger (except for storage or long durations of non-use).

If your battery is original, it's likely failing. 2017 would have a 2016 battery, which is now 6 years old (that's old for a modern cheap battery).

Fellow 2017 owner here, and also in a similar situation where I take very short trips -- just bringing my wife to/from her work since I work from home; on top of having to weather negative temps for at around 4mos a year. I'm also feeling my battery struggle some mornings to start, so on very cold days I plug it to a trickle charger and I also bring with me a portable booster when I leave the house. It's something you might find useful when it fails to start and you're away from home. OR, maybe just bite the bullet and get the battery replaced outright since it's pretty much past its expected usable lifespan.

When you use the trickle charger, do you disconnect the battery first? And if you do, will the car have issues "remembering" all the settings?

I have been watching some youtube videos on this and it seems it could be tricky.

I am thinking of just going a shop to get my battery changed. If I change it myself, I may have to buy a memory saver tool and learn how to use, etc...

A trickle charger does not require the battery to be disconnected, and will not mess with any settings.

If you change your battery, the only test you might need to do is radio preset and clock setting. No reason to buy anything else or learn anything. We can walk you through it. Easy!

Be happy, my oem battery only lasted 3 years.

I have a double garage. On the left is a optima, on the right is the cheap one with no settings.

I actually prefer the no setting and just plug it in when I park on the right side.

Also have the quick connects on the battery itself.
