NEED HELP ON SWAPING MY ENGINE, AND WHAT I SHOULD GET!!!

I have a 98 240sx and I recently got finished doing the body work/priming on it. (The pictures are below) So anyways, I'm looking to do an engine swap and I need help. I'm not sure what engine I should pick.

What I want is an engine that can be giving me 500HP or greater. I was thinking about doing the sr20, but that's only going to be around 300HP with out modding it extremely i believe. So now i'm thinking about the rb25det. The reason why i'm looking to do the rb25 vs the rb26 is that it's about a grand cheaper (used) and that money can go towards upgrading the turbo.

So anyways do you think the RB25det will easily get me to 500rhp? Do you recommend a different engine? Why?What modification would I need to do to get it at 500rhp?--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

first, search. second, with light to no modding of the engine its self just LS1 and call it a day or any v8, they are torquey.

Or turbo the hella out of a 4-6cylinder.

So an Ls1 with out no mods, or very little mods, your saying would be around 500hp? I don't believe your correct.

You are probally talking about an ls6, those ALL stock are around 406HP and are cheap. Little mods can get me at that 500HP range.

An LS swap with the right supporting mods should get you close to 500. A guy here in Phoenix hit 465whp with an LS swap with a little work to it...

And to be prefectly honest, why do you need that much hp? What are your plans for the car? You can build a 3-350whp street car that will run 12's and be enough to have TONS of fun in...

Well to answer your question, any motor available for this chassis can net that much, even the KA that is already in there given you have the dough. It isn't a budget build kind of thing either. It will take quite a bit of scratch to reach those numbers, so start saving your pennies...

People do LS swaps all the time man.

One of the mods i know has an ls6.

DOHC take up a ton of a room as it is so it shouldn't be too bad getting an LS in there.

Just go with an rb26. its twin turbo, gets about 300hp stock and it has an amazing sound! and with mods you could probably get over 600 hp

Hopefully when you finally do[kill yourself] no one else will be on the road with you.But if you must take someone with you, that is unfortunate.....but sacrifices must be made i suppose.

^^^^ doa 2jz swap and be done with it if your building it for straight away stock motorr can have around 300hp and go big single with a t04z 57 trim .82 exhaust and a .70 compressor can handle up to 750 whp my friend is runnig this on his setup wit like 16 to 17 lbs on his 2j so the sky is the limit .stock block and internals should hadle 800whp .

either the B5234T because you'd be the first to swap it and they sound amazing. Or the very potent BD154. You wouldn't be very fast on the street, but you could pull an oak tree out of the ground like it's nothing.

Yes, and yes. I'm not decided on the color yet, and I'm doing a 5 lug conversion, so I'll be getting new rims with that.
