check all the obvious. lines, fluids, wires, and make sure all the bolts are torqued down. sometimes, if the motor has been sitting for awhile, the gaskets might smoke up a little bit, but dont worry.

if you have an erradic idle, an obvious cause is vacuum lines, boost lines (everything between the intercooler and turbo), and your coil packs (sometimes the parts of the harness get pinched and short themselves out, therefore causing a rough idle). other than that, let us know how it goes.

where are you located in california?

well, assuming that all fluids are in and everything is hooked up and ready to go, I suggest you make sure that the oil pump is working correctly, Disconnect the Crank Angle Sensor plug to prevent the coil packs from firing to allow oil circulation before the engine is started. Crank the engine over, 20 seconds at a time, 3-5 times, pausing between cranks or until the oil pressure warning light in the dash goes out. onece the light goes out, go ahead and snap the plug back into place and start the engine, once the engine starts and runs the idle should settle down very quickly if all the wiring and vacume hoses are correct. Let it idle for a minute and then shut it off. Check oil, coolant, look for leaks in heater, radiator and fuel lines. if all is ok, Start it back up. Dust and oil from transport will burn off the engine for a while. Time for a test drive!
