Heres my problem. I am looking at a few G's right now but am stuck. I have driven manual for the last 12 years. I love it. But now I am driving more and more. I want to keep this car as I really don't like the g37's too much and they are just not growing on me. Anyways when I drive my wifes car it can be a pleasure to drive auto and relax when you have been driving alot. But since I want to keep this car until it dies I don't want to regret my purchase. How much slower/ different is the auto from the manual. I have not had time to drive the auto yet. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Hello and welcome!

Glad to see you're going with an 05+. I drove 2 autos and 2 manuals and the manuals won hands down.

Now, here are a few things to contemplate. The autos will adjust shifting based on driving style.

Also, a grounding kit will improve shifting.

And the DS mode of shifting is supposed to be much more satifying than just D.

I personally like having complete control over the car. I also like having more power and a higher redline. Plus if shifted correctly, I should also get slightly better fuel economy than the 5AT (though it hasn't happened).

I would go to the dealer and drive the two back to back (same year with same options). Also ask for the ECUs and throttle learning release to be reset (they should know what you're asking for).

Only YOU can decide which is right for you.

Edit:One more thing. If you're comfortable driving a RWD beast. In other words, you know how to deal with the rear end flying past you. Turn the VDC off. It should give you a clearer comparison.

Here's my take on Mt vs At:

What the f@#$ is your left foot gonna think? huh? Its not good enough for you? After 12 years, 12 YEARS of service?

Now you look down, take a good, long look at that foot. Tell it. Tell it that your going in a different direction, and its services will no longer be required. Tell it that after all these years of loyal service, that you're gonna buy a robot to do its job, cause its more 'comfortable'.

Better MPG with 6 speed manual as well as more fun to drive.

Lol, your right my left foot would be mad I guess. It is a sports coupe, and I always believed sports cars shouldn't be automatic. So this ecu learning thing is with the 6spd also? I have heard that before when I had my tl i know wrong wheel drive with gorgeous interior. (Only if g35 had blue interior lights) its not whats on the inside that counts but the outside and the sexy rear . Thanks guys.

I am curious now I shall go search for the throttle ecu learning thing.

Yeah, the ECU affects both the AT and MT, though I'd say it affects the AT more because of the shifting.

Check the FAQ. Towards the bottom, you'll find the ECU and Throttle Reset procedures. The dealership should be able to do it for you. Just call in advance and tell them what you're looking for.

BTW, SneaKe...

I printed out your comment and showed it to my wife (she also has an MT) and she busted up laughing (so did I when I first read it).
