didja think of epic poetry? Homer's Oddessey and Illiad have TONS of stuff you could use, enough to make the project really really easy...

I thought of Robert Frost as well but a classmate chose him and no two students in the same class can have the same poet.

Charles Bukowski!!!!!!!! he's simple enough you will know what he's taling about. those other people besides maybe Jim Morrison aren't poets at all, just musicians, which isn't to say they aren't talented, but there's a difference between writing lyrics and writing poetry. pick up "run with the hunded" it's a collection of his work which is mostly autobiographical anyway and it is organized chronologicaly so you get a very good image of what the guy is all about.

I've seen many sites where Kurt Cobain is considered a poet. And believe me I know Jim Morrison stuff is awesome but hes already been chosen. I need to find the meaning in there poetry and that would be all I need to get through this project. Any Help would be great.

Tupac is another good poet but he was chosen as well

Kerouac wrote poetry? mebbe its alan ginsberg you are thinking of?

Spidey: you can do what you wish, but I just gotta disagree with you and any other websites that say different: I don't think Kurt Cobain was a poet. I'm sorry, but he wrote lyrics to songs which are different from writing poetry. Hendirx I am unsure of as I don't know his career very well; he was a kick *** guitarist, but I don't think I have heard of him writing any poetry either. Tupac is . . .well I'll leave that one alone. I allow Jim Morrison because he actually has published works that weren't made into songs. also: Poems can be put to music, but lyrics are not poems. I'm not trying to attack you and say your wrong, I'm just disagreeing. If you turn in a report on bukowski (or any other non-musician), you'll prolly get more brownie points from your english teacher for picking someone unexpected.

If I may, and then I'll just shut up:Friendly Advice to a Lot of Young Menby Charles Bukowski

Go to Tibet.Ride a camel.Read the bible.Dye your shoes blue.Grow a beardCircle the world in a paper canoe.Cubscribe to The Saturday Evening Post.Chew on the left side of your mouth only.Marry a woman with one leg and shave with a straght razor. And carve your name in her arm.

Brush your teeth with gasoline.Sleep all day and climb trees at night.Be a monk and drink buckshot and beer.Hold your head under water and play the violin.Do a belly dance before pink candles.Kill your dog.Run for mayor.Live in a barrel.Break your head with a hatchet.Plant tulips in the rain.

But don't write poetry.

Edgar Allen Poe. Freaky stuff and a lot of hidden meaning. I'm sure there is plenty of stuff on the internet about him.

Kerouac did write poetry, but his prose is more famous these days.

You might also want to check out Wilfred Owen. He was a British officer during WWI. He was killed in action a week before the war ended. "Dulce Et Decorum Est" is probably his most famous poem.

Ur right Kurt Cobain didn't write poetry I read through his journal most are just short stories of his life I made sence of his music lyrics and short stories in his journal there somewhat similar to Jhon Lennons stuff only a little twisted.

Thanks for the sites Bad Mojo I liked Kerouac's poetry its short and with a point. I was going to go with Langston Hughes but this Kerouac is much better.
