The stock Sr 5 speed is a stout box, you shouldn't have a problem there. The shafts are also fine if you're not doing anything outrageous. Only problem may be the diff if you like beating the $hit out of it. That said, there are plenty of R180 and R200's out of Z cars you can throw in there and you can go to town after that.

You might want to look into a Subaru Impreza STi rear end. It's a stronger R180 unlike the other scoobys which are 160's like your dime. It will bolt in just like a Zed 180 but it's CLSD. I'm not sure how popular these cars are around your area but the only problem will be the sub axles and I believe there are a few people currently designing stub axles to fit the Zed and Dime with minimal mods.
