I am having trouble with my car. When I shift into second and sometimes third gear my car bogs down for a second then runs fine. I was wondering what causes this so I can fix it and it also backfires a bit when I let go of the gas and I noticed today that its also running a open waste gate. I was also wondering about my rear end to as it makes a whirling sound from 50 to 60mph and was wondering what would cause this and with the waste gate since its open would that make a ticking sound or would it be the exhaust manifold gasket. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Are you running an aftermarket blow off valve and not recirculating it?Why is your wastegate open?

Just to add, i'm trying to fix my boys car with the same setup. He has the RFL bov nonrecirc, and his does the same thing. When giving it gas will bog and try to cut off. Idles fine and revs just fine. Havn't gone over it with a fine tooth comb, but basically, the same thing the OP stated, he is getting.

you have a ticking sound at idle?

exhaust leak. thats probably going to be the cause of your power loss too

Yes it sounds like the exhuast manifold gasket that's why I asked about the waste gate as well if it would be making this noise since its running open dump

Look at your BOV.If it has a hose going to the intake pipe AFTER the MAF, then it is recirc'd

If not then.... It's notAnd that will be your problem.

your wastegate does have an exhaust gasket/some kind of seal on the manifold side but it shouldnt be making noise at idle. the fact its an open dump has nothing to do with this problem

any ticking at idle = exhaust leak and it can cause the problems you are describing.

Ok that's what I was thinking and I just looked at my bov and it does not look recirc. The only hose coming out of it is to my greddy intake manifold and none to the maf sensor how would I recirc it?

Well I think I found the vibrating problem the tensioner went ou. I took the timing cover off and saw the belt wobbling and it bringing metal shavings up this has to be on of the tensioners right? And also the whine noise coming from my turbo could it be the death whine I never had any problems till yesterday or could it be I have a massive boost leak somewhere any help is needed

I would say it is probably time to change the tensioners and the belt, if one of the tensioners is bad that could cause the vibrations, you should replace the water pump while you are doing the job too, that is if you haven't already. it would be a shame to loose an engine over something you could have done with another 15mins of work. sorry I don't know what to tell you about the turbo. good luck!
