as the title says... my 240 died about 2 weeks ago, i thought that it was the fuel pump i replace it with a walbro 255 one but it still dont work so i try replacing the pump relay and still wont work so i replace the ecu and it works but wont idle until i hold on gas pedal for about 1 min then it idle normal but the e-brake light comes on even when i didnt pull the e-brake so can anyone give me some pointers on what to check up on...

maybe you have a bunch of wires crossed somehwere or something.

First things first. Hows the battery. Static voltage? Load test?

WEll you ECU has to be good if it just crapped out now. How do you know your battery is good, did you test it?

i took it to autozone for them to check it out they said its good but u see.. when i swap my old ecu to the spare one that i got the engine cranks and fire up but wont stay at a steady idle when i put my old ecu back and try to crank it it seems like no fuel is pumping but it had spark. but when it put the spare ecu on it fired up but just wont idle steady and it just throw an engine check light and the e-brake light is on.. so i think that my spare ecu isnt for my car, cause i read that if you have a federal 240 the california 240 ecu will not work properly so i might think thats the problem but what i was wondering is that why is the e-brake light is always on, that dont happen when my old ecu is in..

I think you are answering your question. First I would find a correct ecu for your car.

I have seen these sea views on many occasions go bad the part of the the grounds out the fuel pulp relay to turn on the fuel pump quits working but the rest of the ECU is still working time. I know there are differences between the California and federal car but it's been my experience with older model cars usually it doesn't make much difference when you switch from and less you have to check commissions. Go down to your fuel pump relay unplug turn the ignition key on two of the terminals will be hot 2 of the pins are set right side by side with no get between them then to pins have a space to do that are spaced apart one will be hot jumper at to the other one you should hear the fuel pump run. Try starting the car and see if it starts if it runs it definitely means you have a problem with the trigger signal from the ECU now go to the two terminals that are side-by-side one is hot jumper attests lighter cross is to terminals and crank the car if the light comes on and stays on for about 10 to 20 seconds after you crank the car it is working properly if the light does not come on so that you can continue using your PC you just ground the wire that is not supplying the ground signal of the two described earlier the fuel pump will only come on when you turn the key on but it will not shut off and 20 seconds like the factory one does but I have sent several cars down with that side of the relay grounded and I've had no problems. If you would like a good ECU I have one that has been testedand has out of the Federation car

well right now i know that its my old ecu its just like you said i took off the fuel pump relay and jump it and it works but it runs like its not supplying enough fuel my car bog a 4200 rpm and my max speed was about 115 with no gov. so right now im looken for an federal ecu thats is an auto so i dont have to worried about taking off my speed sensor...
