SR is the cheapest/easiest. Also easy to turbo (swap a DET instead) and get pretty big power out of. The VE is also an interesting possibility that isn't as common. Check out the Table of Contents, it should have a link to info on SR swaps and a GA->SR conversion.
VQ35 is being done as I type by someone here on the board. The thread should be on the first few pages. Look for it.
I've heard of VQ30's being done, but why 30 when you can 35? It may be a bit easier, but I don't see any extra value.
KA hasn't been done as far as I know because it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Yes, they came in Altimas, so a FWD one does exist, and yes, because the SR was available in other vehicles with the same chassis as the Altima, it's entirely possible, but it's not nearly as well supported in the aftermarket as even the VQ options, much less the SR.
Seriously take a look at the SR20VE if you're interested in being a bit unique. It's been done, but not a ton, and it'll make any VTEC Honda cry.
This is also hugely dependent on how much power you're looking for, how much money you have to spend, and what you plan on doing with the car. Max power is the VQ35, hands down, but the most fun to drive it may not be.
