Need help, no spark.....

After attempting to replace my TPS my car will not start, it has no spark (my car had an automatic TPS and was was tring to install a manual TPS for which I dont have a plug for, so I kind of made one up myself). It has no spark, it just cranks and cranks but it does not fire. Some one told me I might of fried my ECM, I took it out and did not see anything burned or shorted. The only thing I notice was a red light on. Is that light normal or does it mean the ECM is burned.

Any help or suggesting on what to look for is greatly appreciated.

Auto and manual cars have different TPSs?
