Lately I have been hearing about the EGR and AIV removal and plug it up deal.

First off I want to ask what is the advantage of doing this? And what exactly are you removing and plugging up.

Who ever has done it before, please help.

I have an 89 240sx. And I am rebuilding the engine right now.

EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) does just that, recirculates exhaust gases back into the intake manifold. AIV dumps air into the exhaust maniold.

Main advantage is engine breathes fresh air.

If you live in a state that requires emissions check, then id leave the EGR and AIV alone.

as in the other thread, you can just disconnect the AIV system from the air intake box by putting a small breather filter on it.
