Here we go, now I am pretty far in taking things off, i now just have to set the motor to TDC and remove the crank pulley and water pump. Once I have that done, I guess my question is, do i have to unloosen the motor mounts and raise the engine to take off the oil pan? Or will the front of the oil pan lower enough in order to change the components i need to change. I hope I don't have to go raising the engine. Let me know, hope to work on this all day tomorrow. Let me know, thanks Bob.

Doing timing chain??? Didn't think you need to remove the pan at all... I was able to remove my oil pan on my dohc and my friends but jacking the engine up. Watch the sensors at the back. Also you may need to undo the pickup in order to take the pan out... had to do that on my other friends.. 3 bolts...

Yeah i have been following those directions, but i want to know if it is necessary to lift the motor up. Could it be done without that step?

can be done without pulling the oil pan. You'll have to pry the front cover a bit more carefully, but this can be done fairly quickly and much easier than having to drop the oil pan.
