Ok this is what's going on. The Driver door will not open. Passenger if fine, but I can't get in the driver seat from the passenger side. So, I have to open the driver window and climb in ala dukes of hazard. To get out, I climb out through window again, go around, get in the passenger side, roll up widow and turn off the car. Its's a literal pain in the back.

Now the issue is that if I use the auto door locks, there is a whirring noise from the doorjam area, and the lock knob barely moves. When I pull the handle inside, I comes straight out without any resistance. Same thing happens when you try it from outside.

Is it possible to remove the door trim without opening the door? Me thinks this is a mainly mechanical issue rather than an electrical. At one time the door opened from the outside, but when I got to work, I had to use the window.

It's funny the first few time I had to do it but now it's getting rediculus. The mechanic wants $60 to look at it but if you cant get the door open, whatcha gonna look at?

Please help if you can. I've gone over the FSm but can't really make out anything that cauld be wrong.

HELP PLEASE!!

Is it possible to get the inner panel off. It probably pretty simple like one of the cheap plastic parts broke or one of the metal rods slipped out. I have had the change out a door and take out a lock assembly 2 weeks before I sold my S14. I figured it out pretty quickly without a FSM. Just work on getting the interior panel off. I don't know if you can with the door closed.

i gaurantee you that one of your rods poped out of place. it is so easy to fix. *oh crap*- it just now hit me that you cant open your door at all. i dont think you can get the panel off without opening the door. i dont know what to tell you about that except for i think youre screwed.

Thats what I was thinking and thats why I asked if he could get the panel off. I guess we can hope for the best because $60 isn't looking bad if the mechanic can get your interior panel to magically pop off.

alright, nevermind, i just though of something. you said the window rolls down, so thats good. you can try looking down through the windown opening and look for the latch. get something small that will fit in between the window and door, and then try to push on the lever that unlatches the door. this is the only way youll be able to get your door open. i just went out and looked at my car and there is no way you can get the door panel off without opening the door. its either you try and pop the door open the way i said, or pay a lock smith and hell do the exact same thing. if you do happen to get it open on your own, and then get the panel off, its an easy fix from there. pull down the plastic cover carefully without ripping it and just examine your rods going from the interior door handle to the latch, and also the rod from the exterior handle going to the latch. one of them or both are popped off. if you have common sense youll see where it all goes together. good luck man!

It's been a while since I remove the door panels. (Speaker Install)But IIRC, the interior door handle cover consists of 2 rods going to it. You can remove the door handle cover (1screw ) that will expose the rods. You should be able to tug at the bottom rod or use some pliers will cause the door to open. Hopefully thats your problem,,if you have the fsm check the chapter on body/trim.T

I dont think your going to be able to get your door panel off without opening the door. If all else fails you could take an air grinder to your door panel. Although i'd us that as a last resort.

I locked my keys in my s13 at walmart once. went inside and bought a coat hanger. 15 minutes later I was in my car.eds13

bad neews. it's probably gonna cost me a huge sum cause i have to take it to a nissan dealer. upon futher scrutiny of the issue, hte lock is what's messed up. the key wont even stay to the right when you try to turn it. It works fine on the passenger side though.

And you are all right. the panel cannot be taken off with the door closed. There are 3 screws at the bottom, 1 grommet and 2 screws on the side. Then there is the way the door mates with the dash...

Issues man, just issues in my life.

So are you saying that jimmying the door wouldnt work? If you cant do it your self you can call your local fire dept and they will come and unlock your car for you....

How about pulling the fender off and undoing the door hinges. There might be enough play in the door to do something
