Hey, i'm in need of help!

Where is the main relay (fuel pump) located?

Also, the location of EGI control relay.

And the schematic for fuel pump wire colors.

Here is the ESM from the 94 J30. Just about everything you need should be in the EC section.

You had the full esm though I only supplied the EC section.

Well as you now know Bruce you can get answers pretty quick here. Are you having no start problems?

The fuel pump relay is in the drivers side kick panel aft of the fuse box and behind the computer

There is also a fuel pump control module in the trunk Passenger sidebolted to the frame behind the fuel filler. when you take off the trim you will see 3 nuts on the side of the frame you can see. 2 are the fuel pump control and one is the fuel pump resistor

Yeah, it's the fuel pump relay. If i'm not mistaken, 2 of the parallel plugs should begetting twelve volts, and two parallel getting ground.

Well i have the two parallel that are supposed to be gettingpower, that's all fine. But for some reason (this is where i need help) the two for groundonly has one grounded and the other is getting power to it.

And yes, it is a no start problem. But when we bypassed the relay temporarily, it started right up.But... It was shaking a good bit. I do believe this is injector related.Because i have had an injector go out and came back by itself. So this car has some electrical issues.

But i checked all the grounds that the relay has and any others i couldfind, also cleaned them. So the grounds are fine, i just need to figure outwhy the ground is getting 12 volts...

What color wire is it? I will compare it to the diagram and tell you what to do next. Be careful when looking for ground not to supply battery voltage to the ECM ground side. What are you using the test for power?

Check out page 151. the diagnostic proceedure is there. If the B/R wire is getting power you may have a dead ECM since it looks like that is the computer controlled ground for the FP relay.

You need to check continuity in the circuit you may have a short to power or the signal may be coming from the ECM. Hopefully it's the first.

The tail light relay is near it.

See page EL-126 for what around it.

There is the pin out for the relay.

You can find that on page EL-149

http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/J30/1994_J30/ec.pdf

Hopefully that helps

Alright thanks. And now the problem is transmission. When we bypassed the fuel pump relay, it works fine.So i took it out for a test drive, and it stays in fourth gear...

Are you sure its fourth, if it were to fail electronically it should fail in third.

You need to get it too someone to take a look at, there is the potential that it's something simple or it could be a failed control unit.

All i know is it is either 4th or 3rd. If you floor it, there's no kick downand 0-30 is about 7 seconds.

How did this all start?

Did you notice anything prior to the no start?

Is it stuck in gear or maybe bogging down due to low fuel pressure?

How about recent service history?

Are there any other electrical problems currently or recently?

Its not bogging.Bypassed the relay and started it.It started fine, no shaking or stalling whatsoever.

Reverse and park and neutral work fine. When you put it in drive, it moves but stays in3rd or 4th.

I believe it has electrical problems, and i do think someonehas worked on it before.

I'm sorry to admit it at this point but without being able to look at the car I don't know what else to tell you. I highly suspect you have an significant electrical issue at the root cause of this but I don't know what it is.

You need to get it hooked up to a Consult and a multimeter. I don't know what your level of diagnostics is but this does not sound like a DIY job.

I would recommend either a Dealer or an Infiniti specialist, the J is not a very common car and has a rudimentary CAN system that is not common for cars of that day.

If you are interesting in doing it yourself I would recommend reading the EC section of the ESM posted above for the fuel pump control. If you have power on the ground circuit you need to check for a short to power by performing a resistance and/or voltage drop test on the circuit from the ECM to the relay. It sounds like something is missing and you will need to find it before it will work again.
