Ok this is the story, I hit a hugeeee pot hole in the highway going maybe 60-70mph and it cracked the oil pan and the oil was leaking from there. without knowing, I had to keep driving for another maybe an hour. Parked the car and went in to a restaurant to eat, came back, drove the car more (still didnt know I was leaking oil) and after 20 more min, I wentup to about 4000rpm and (downshifted) and came to a stop. When I did, the car died on me.

Turned the car back on, it was stuttering and keep going tick tick tick tick tick tick tack tick sputter tick tick and couldnt idle. I turn the car off, opened the hood and was just checking to see what can be the problem and I checked my oil. It was COMPLETELY dried out. The low engine light thingy in the dash never came on too. So, my friend drove his car to a gas station and got me some oil, waited a little and started the car. It was able to idle but the ticking sound comes back on if I rev the car over 1800rpm. So, basically I drove the car back like that. Question is:

Someone told me to get some Lucas oil, disconnect the coil wire and crank the engine for about 2 min to see if I can get the rods lubed. Would that really work? Im at work right now so I didnt get a chance to try that.

If that doesnt work I guess I gotta put in another KA but any other suggestions? I dont really want to keep wasting money on this getting it checked out and etc if this motor is gone. Please help!!

Sounds like obiously your valvetrain was starved for oil. im such a genius.Oh yeah but what I would do is buy some royal purple oil and then take off you valve cover and squirt it all over your cams and springs and crap and maybe that will work. cus maybe some of the oil heated up and gummed up all the little passages and get oil to the valve train so if you get the oil up there it might clear it out. but dont listen to me cus im an idiot

Get a new oil pan perhaps? You didn't mention you did yet.

You can probably find a used KA for cheap and have it installed the same day if you are mechanically inclined. Your engine is probably toast get a new used one. Do a compression check first just incase.

bump anyone else..? I tried the lucas oil and it did help get the noise out at idle but it still does it when i'm driving past 1700rpm. Also, my oil pressure gets SUPER low like at 25, it used to be at 50-60. Any reason why?

You are going to need another engine....all the other suggestions given to you by the members of the forum will help you get around the local area for a while, at moderate speeds...question: did you noticed any temperature increase on your temp gauge after you hit the pothole???....(I know there are some craters in Queens...)....Good luck, Bro

well.. I hate to post this because it sounds terrible.. kind of like being convicted of neglecting your children...

My wife drove her 91 240SX SE without any oil for... well don't really know for how long. One day she finally told me that it was not running right so I checked it and it had no oil, it had started to knock badly and it was dying on her.

To make a long story short all I did to it was 1) fill it back up with oil2) the knocking was the timing chain guide had broken off3) prayed and cried over it

8 months later the car is now mine and I am doing an interior upgrade. There are no signs the motor is shot, it still has pretty good power, can get up to 100mph realativly easily... anyway...

are you sure your motor is gone or did the praying and crying over mine really helped?
