Possibilities: Wiring, ecu, or ignitor chip.

Could also be the CAS. Do you get any codes? Do you have a multimeter?

If only one cyl was firing the car wouldn't run. Have you checked the coils?

Wait, are you saying that you switched the plug from cyl to cyl or the coils? Are you getting any codes?

heres what you do to know if your getting spark, which means in my case and possibly yours, you may be flooding. take the fuse out for the fuel pump, then tryn and start it and give it a little gas, if it turns on it was turn off almost immediatly. so if it starts like this but not the other, then you are flooding the engine. also, you may already be flooded. dont ask me how to fix this because im still working on it. so if that doesnt work...

take out your spark plugs and unplug the cas and fuel pump fuse and try keep turning the ignition until you dont see anymore gas blowing out of the holes, good to have a buddy to help with watching that. then try and start it.

id imagine, you however probly have flooded the rest of them because of this, empty them out the way i explained and check your oil, if it smells like gas reall bad change it

Is the black top motor a later model black top then or is it the early years? Could be the wrong ecu if the black top is an early model.

how do you tell the difference from the two when i ordered it they told me it was an s13 so that is pretty much all i know is the j4 ecu early modle or late.

ok i did some research and from what i read the j4 ecu is the type x or something well when i got my swap it didnt come with the harness only the ecu so i got them to send me one and im guessing its from a red top.so from what i read the wiring is different between the two is this correct if so what do i have to do to get it all right and running.

The only thing I would do if I were in your situation would to try to find the ecu pin chart of both and repin the ecu plug. Kind of hard not really knowing if the engine is actually a Kouki engine or not either. Have a friend with a redtop 62/63 or E5/E6 ecu that you can test with?

I couldn't tell the difference of either engine either if my life depended on it without major searching online for maybe the engine codes.

J4 is out of the Kouki 180sx's(later models). Sorry I wouldn't know where to look for the pin outs either.

I got The same ****in trouble with my blacktop. My harness was E5 and my ECU J4.I solve it yesterday!!!The Answer?

Move pin #25 to pin #9Move pin #5 to pin #8Swap pins 2 and 3Move pin #11 to pin #10.

On E5; pin 25=Ehaust temp warning J4= Ignition Signal cylinder #4E5:pin 5= Empty J4= Ignition Signal cylinder #3E5 pin 2 = Ignition signal cylinder #2 J4= Tachometer signal output.E5 pin 3 = Tachometer Signal output E5= Ignition signal cylider #2E5:pin 11 = Empty J4= A/C relay

Chek it out ( this is for a J4 harness with E5 ECU so it's the inverse solution)

Note On J4 ECU there is no Exaust temperature sensor

Hope it will hep you!
