I have owned my 96 Maxima for two years. Since I first got it, once in awhile (say one every five times I would try to start it)the engine would not turn over when I turned the key.
I would try it again and it would turn over and start. Then it got to where it would do it every other time I got in the car, but it would start on the second or third try. It kept getting worse until now it takes me about ten or fifteen tries before it will kick over and start. Anyone have any suggestions? Could it be the ignition switch? Thanks!!

You've probably resolved this already but I believe this is likely a cam shaft sensor or crank position sensor issue. More likely the latter of the two.

Trying to see if I am having the same problem as yourself. Not throwing codes. Checked the crank sensor and cleaned of gunk and cleaned some corrosion off the exposed magnet. Please confirm if this is the same issue.
