Ok here is the synopsis an ex-coworker who has performed this swap was going to help me with the install but he has faked out on me, so I am looking for anyone who has performed this swap to please help out a fellow 240/sr20 enthusiast. I will pay you $$$ for your time, pizza, beer on tap I will even invite some chicks over and try to get you laid!! I am in DOVER, DELAWARE.

I don’t want to pay some shop I want to do it myself with a little help, have garage and tools. I have a 1989 240sx automatic, the mission is to do a 5 speed swap and full SR swap. I have all the parts, SR20DET Blacktop engine, transmission, ECU, already extended/modified wire harness, koyo radiator, Flex-a-lite fans, Greddy vspl intercooler, hotpipe, downpipe, BOV, Intake, 5 speed drive shaft, 91 gauge cluster, modified power steering lines, clutch, brake pedal ETC, pretty much everything.

I will even videotape the install make a DVD sell it on ebay and split the profit with you and out sell that punk from Canada!!!! It’s an offer you can’t refuse!!!

dude, youre desperate. Its just a special car thats all. Relax, take your time.

How can you invest in all that stuff, if you dont know what you're doing. You can't rely on anyone, even your own brother.

Thanks for the words of wisdom?! but don’t get it twisted I am no newbie I have done my homework and know what’s involved, but the motor and transmission are heavy and even with an engine lift I literally need another pair of hands to help, Hello genius you can’t do it alone. I am sure there is another SR fan out there that actually likes working on cars.

actually you can do it alone, i have done a harder swap when it comes to wiring (black top in a s14). it just takes more time doing it yourself.i separated the engine and trans and put the engine in first and the trans after. i did this for two reasons, one because the parts together would be heavy and difficult to manuver by myself and two, so that i could replace the clutch parts, rear main seal, and machine the flywheel.

I was actually considering that, how did you get the transmission in after you had the engine in did you have car on a lift? or did slide it under the car and use a jack to lift it up?

yeah, i had the car on jack stands pretty high and i just slid the trans under the car and used a floor jack to raise it into position.getting it on to the floor jack while it was under the car wasn't as hard as it sounds, i just tipped the tailshaft end of the transmission up and scooted the floor jack under the trans a little closer to the front of the trans to keep it balanced on the jack.

Just want to say thanks to Steves14, wanna240 and my91silvia for your advice and willingness to help, that’s what it’s all about sharing the knowledge. We are all alike in our passion for this motorsport of drifting and 240sx's that knows no race, color, religion or age boundary’s, ride on to the real.......

Well just an update I will be doing the swap in Baltimore in a friends basement (this is going to be a site to see trust me!!), instead of Delaware at my sisters house where I originally planned, I live in a town home in Maryland and the housing authority and my neighbors suck I can’t even change my oil without someone complaining. I will be doing the swap in about two weeks due to scheduling conflicts. If anyone is in the Baltimore area and is interested in helping or just talking shop and drinking some brews hit me up.
